Chapter Thirty: The Curvy Girl Cuts in Line
The crowd that had gathered for the spectacle quickly closed in, and Long Fei immediately became the center of attention. People instinctively formed a circle, with Long Fei and the crew-cut student standing in the middle. The crew-cut student towered half a head above Long Fei and was much bulkier, so in terms of stature, Long Fei was clearly at a disadvantage.
Long Fei was brimming with anger and nowhere to vent it, so when trouble came seeking him, his lips curled into a wicked smile as he said to the crew-cut student, "What do you want? Don’t tell me you fancy that girl from before. Let me tell you, if you do, you’re in for a miserable time. Look at her—she’s got neither looks nor figure! I wonder if you’re out of your mind, honestly, you have zero taste!"
The crew-cut student was furious, though he managed to keep his temper somewhat in check. He spat, "Which year are you in? What department?"
Long Fei replied coolly, "I just came to register. So what?"
"You’re just a freshman and you dare act tough with me? If I don’t teach you a lesson today, you won’t know your place!" The crew-cut student clenched his fists, ready to fight.
Long Fei laughed coldly, "So, you’re going to fix me up?"
The crew-cut student sneered, "That’s exactly my intention!"
"Fine!" As soon as Long Fei spoke, he sent out a swift kick, his signature lethal attack. It was as forceful and effective as ever—one kick and the crew-cut student, despite being half a head taller, crumpled to the ground, clutching his groin, his brows knit tightly, unable to even cry.
The turn of events was so sudden, so unexpected, that everyone was stunned—how could such a strapping fellow be brought down so easily? But soon they realized the reason: Long Fei was vicious and ruthless.
Perhaps sensing the growing hostility, just like the bespectacled spectator earlier, the crowd began to criticize Long Fei, and more people gathered. Uncomfortable with the scene and finding it all rather absurd, Long Fei shouted, "Shut the hell up!"
"You, you’re the loudest! What I hate most are people like you—always stirring things up, never daring to act! I’m talking about you, and you dare to run?" Long Fei grabbed the clever bespectacled man trying to escape, landed a slap that puffed up one side of his face, then another on the other side, leaving both cheeks swollen and knocking out a few teeth.
The bespectacled man stared at Long Fei, tears streaming down his face, unable to even cry, completely stunned.
Long Fei shouted to the crowd, "I’ll count to three! If anyone wants to keep gawking, I’ll smash his teeth all over the floor!"
One.
Two.
Three.
After three counts, not a soul remained—everyone had fled. As Long Fei was about to leave, he saw two security guards approaching, both middle-aged men wielding electric batons.
"Hey, student, why did you hit someone? Come with us to the security office!" The guards were nowhere to be seen during the fight, but now that things had calmed down, they came to apprehend him.
Long Fei chuckled, "You’re not police, so why should I go with you?"
"You’re a student here, how can you ignore the school’s rules? Tell me, what department are you in? What year?" The older guard was caught off guard by Long Fei’s question. Normally, anyone involved in a fight would meekly comply or plead, but today Long Fei had fired back. He was momentarily flustered, but recovered quickly and pressed Long Fei for answers.
"I’m not in any department. I’m a first-year, haven’t even registered yet. So technically, I’m not a student here—you have no right to detain me!" With that, Long Fei turned to leave. The two guards, shocked by his audacity, immediately chased after him.
"Hey, who’s bold enough to try and catch him?" Ye Qian appeared beside Long Fei, intercepting the guards.
Recognizing Ye Qian, the guards quickly changed their demeanor, spoke a few polite words, and, out of respect for her, returned to their office.
"Long Fei, now you owe me another favor," Ye Qian said, blinking playfully.
Long Fei blinked back, "Miss, I don’t even know you. If you want to chase after me, at least ask if I agree! Next time, don’t meddle in my business!" With that, he strode off.
A favor for a favor—right in front of the crowd, Long Fei publicly distanced himself from Ye Qian, and threw her a soft jab, leaving Ye Qian fuming and shouting, "Long Fei, I’m going to kill you!"
What a girl—her true colors always show! No manners at all.
Long Fei moved so quickly that Ye Qian had no chance to catch up. Since he was gone, she had no choice but to find her group of girlfriends. As a sophomore, she didn’t need to register at the new student reception, and after a summer break, she genuinely missed those friends who were usually brash but always respectful and obedient to her.
Ye Qian came and went in a hurry. While she was there, she added a vibrant touch to the school gate; but once she left, the lecherous boys were visibly disappointed.
It was a while after Ye Qian left before Long Fei emerged from a corner of the flowerbed. When he returned to the gate, most of the earlier crowd had dispersed. Remembering that the art department was mostly female, Long Fei easily found the registration point—just as he expected, a long line full of beautiful girls, most of whom were naturally attractive and well-dressed. Looking closer, Long Fei nearly drooled: out of more than fifty girls, at least five were dressed provocatively. The upside of such attire was that it drew all eyes.
Despite the heat, Long Fei, with his deep internal strength, didn’t feel uncomfortable. Surrounded by so many pretty girls, he was in high spirits, not at all anxious to register. Instead, he kept letting girls cut in line behind him, and so time passed unnoticed. New students came and went, but Long Fei alone remained in the queue, a seasoned old-timer.
Some observant students noticed Long Fei, the lone green leaf among the flowers, and wondered why he wasn’t registering. From his lascivious gaze, it was clear—he was hiding at the back just to ogle the beauties. This summer was indeed a good time to feast one’s eyes: everything that should and shouldn’t be revealed was on display, much to Long Fei’s delight.
Ye Qian called, urging Long Fei to quickly head to the second floor of the No. 2 cafeteria for lunch. She was laughing so joyfully on the phone that Long Fei became wary, not daring to agree and excusing himself by saying he was in line to register.
As soon as Long Fei hung up, Ye Qian called again, warning him sternly to arrive within a minute, threatening to send someone to help him register, and declaring that if he didn’t come, lunch would be off the table.
Knowing Ye Qian well, Long Fei believed refusing her invitation was the wisest choice. But to his surprise, Ye Qian actually dispatched a girlfriend to help him, and this girl was dressed even more provocatively—a thin, oversized T-shirt barely containing her ample figure. The deep cleavage instantly drew every male eye at the registration site.
"Who’s Long Fei?" the girl called out, her voice as loud as her chest was prominent.
Long Fei frowned, reluctant to respond, but seeing her about to shout again, he waved her over to avoid further attention.
"Why are you yelling here?" Long Fei was annoyed and didn’t much care for the girl, feeling her blond hair and shifty eyes made her look like a street punk.
The voluptuous girl looked Long Fei up and down, then grinned, "So you’re Long Fei? Ye Qian’s bodyguard?"
"And you are?" Long Fei had already guessed her identity.
"I’m Ye Qian’s friend! Didn’t see anything special about you—really don’t get why our boss values you so much. If she likes you, she’d be better off with Chen Xin; he’s the mayor’s son, and honestly, he’s better looking than you!" The girl clearly looked down on Long Fei, not noticing the contempt in his eyes.
Long Fei replied impatiently, "I have nothing to do with Ye Qian, so stop talking nonsense. Anyway, why are you looking for me?"
"Oh, right! Ye Qian sent me to help you register!" The girl looked around. "You’ve been in line all afternoon—how come there are still so many people ahead?"
Long Fei was taken aback, "I’m a man, I can’t compete with girls. In this heat, it’d be embarrassing to let others stand here while I cut in. It’s called gentlemanly conduct—haven’t you heard of ‘ladies first’?"
The girl gave a thumbs up and pouted, "You’re so noble, so great. But don’t you think you’re being stupid? Why not just chill somewhere until everyone’s done, then come and register? Seems to me you just want to squeeze in and take advantage of the girls!"
Long Fei was so annoyed he wanted to slap her. Did she have to spell it out so bluntly?
"Alright, alright, enough. You want to help? Then take my place—I’ll go cool off for a bit!" With that, Long Fei left the line.
"Wait, forget the queue—just come with me!" The voluptuous girl dragged Long Fei straight to the front, as if hauling a man caught in an affair. The girl at the front was average-looking but dressed provocatively, with a seductive air that made it clear she wasn’t ‘original’.
The voluptuous girl cut in at the very front, immediately drawing complaints from the girls behind. Truth be told, her behavior annoyed even Long Fei; everyone hated queuing in the heat, and here she was blatantly cutting in, thanks to Ye Qian’s orders. No wonder the others grumbled.
"What’s all the fuss? Never seen someone cut in line? Anyone who keeps yapping, I won’t be polite!" The voluptuous girl was fierce—one shout and most of the girls fell silent, lowering their heads. As freshmen, they were timid. The only one who dared glare at her was the tall girl who had been first in line.
"What are you staring at? Keep it up and I’ll teach you a lesson!" The voluptuous girl threatened, a classic female thug.
Turning around, the two girls handling registration—both sophomores—seemed to know her and smiled, "Oh, it’s Sister Feng! Is this your boyfriend?"
"Him? Please, I’d never go for him. Just register him!" The voluptuous girl gave Long Fei no credit.
The two upperclassmen had noticed Long Fei hanging around in the queue and now looked at him with a hint of curiosity and amusement, making him feel rather awkward. He suspected they’d already figured out why he’d come to the art department.
"Alright, hand me your admission notice!" The girl in charge smiled at Long Fei.
With the voluptuous girl backing him up, the registration was quickly completed. As they were about to leave, their eyes met the girl who had been first in line. The voluptuous girl’s face turned aggressive, "What’s your problem, bitch? Want me to teach you a lesson today?"
