The vast valley hall below was packed with monsters. The valley was so wide it seemed endless, teeming with various beasts: translucent Ice Demons, blue monsters wielding axes, assassins lurking in the shadows, and burly Yetis—all ranging between level 42 and 45, perfectly matching my current level. The problem was, they were far too many, and most attacked from a distance. If I blindly jumped down, I would probably be killed instantly.

Below were monsters with low defense and health but high experience points. Though I wasn’t stingy, I wouldn’t miss such a golden opportunity to level up. I scanned the hall. It was large, but the icy path I stood on hugged the wall, circling the hall completely. Down near the closest point, the path narrowed gradually until it was barely wide enough for a single person to stand.

Got it! This time, I’m sure I can surpass that level 40 knight!

I quickly logged out and returned to the city. Dinner should be ready soon. Later, I’d send Xuehan to clear out the monsters. As long as I guarded the entrance to the hall, Xuehan could safely eliminate all the creatures. Firestorm Rain was a fire spell perfect for dealing maximum damage to these ice monsters!

Just as I stepped out of my room, I saw Xinyu beaming with joy, so I asked, “What’s got you so happy? Did you find a rich sucker in the game?”

Xinyu laughed exaggeratedly, puffing out her chest and said, “Of course! That guy gave me 100 gold coins this morning to learn skills. I’ve decided to stick with him from now on!”

I glanced at Xinyu’s tempting curves and swallowed hard, saying, “Suit yourself, I don’t care…”

Xulin, standing nearby, glanced between Xinyu and me. She seemed to catch on to something and smiled, “You two… quite the tacit understanding. By the way, Lin Fan, Xuehan took us hunting grass wolves all day today, and now we’ve all leveled up. The three of us are already in the national top 50 at level 36. It’s a pity the experience is slow now; the wolves give too little XP for such a high level.”

I quickly made room beside me. “Xuehan, come eat. I have something to discuss with you!”

Xulin smiled faintly. “What secret matter could you have that you wouldn’t tell us? Could it be you’re planning to settle down with our beauty Xuehan?”

Xuehan blushed and scolded Xulin, “Lin Jie, stop joking! Didn’t you say you had an important announcement? Everyone’s here, so why wait?”

“Oh, I almost forgot~” Xulin tapped her forehead and said seriously, “Considering everyone’s future, I thought long and hard last night and decided to lower the studio’s commission fees. From now on, the studio will only take a 20% cut from the gold you earn by selling equipment or other items.”

As soon as Xulin spoke, everyone erupted in excitement. Previously, they only received one-third of the sale price; now they would get 80% of the full amount. This was a breakthrough for them. Their gear was not great upon entering the main city, and the equipment they dropped didn’t fetch much gold. After Xulin’s two-thirds cut, they barely earned anything. Now, they could finally live comfortably! I was even happier. The blue spear, Ice Spear, and the purple axe, Frenzied Dark Blade, would sell for enough for me to buy a house!

Xinyu looked at Xulin incredulously, asking word by word, “Is this for real?”

Xulin laughed and brushed off Xinyu’s restless hand. “Of course it’s real. I thought about it; a 20% cut is plenty. Take Lin Fan, for example. Many of his top-tier purple items sell for over a million gold each. Just one more purple item from him would bring our little family another 200,000 gold—enough for everyone’s expenses for half a year. And with his skills, he won’t just make one purple item, right?”

Xinyu blinked her beautiful eyes and asked, “With that logic, aren’t you lacking ambition? Don’t you want to be a big boss?”

Xulin smiled and shook her head, “I’ve finally figured it out. Why do I need so much money? Our current income is enough to support three kept men. What else would I do with more money? Burn it for warmth?”

I was stunned, “Wait, you’re going to keep kept men?”

Xulin immediately gave a flirtatious smile, “Want to sign up? You’re first on the list…”

“Me, a kept man?” I pointed at my nose in disbelief, then said, “No thanks. With my current income, I can easily support you instead.”

Xulin gave a charming smile. “Everyone heard that Lin Fan wants to support me, so I’m sticking to you now…”

I was dumbfounded. When did Xulin become as shameless as Murong Shanshan?

Xinyu stared expressionlessly at Xulin, ready to explode at any moment. Xuehan, more composed, blinked her big watery eyes, making Xulin feel a little embarrassed.

Xinyu was surprised, “Borrow Xuehan? Do you have a task you can’t do alone?”

“Of course, there are too many monsters. I can’t handle them all by myself, so I want Xuehan to come with me and set some fires…”

Xulin smiled, “If you want to borrow her, just take her. If Xuehan wants to leave, we can’t stop her anyway!”
