Chapter 109: The Ice and Snow Halberd

After cutting down several sneaky assassins, the path ahead narrowed once again. The corridor hugging the wall was barely wide enough for a single person. Fortunately, there were no monsters in sight. I cautiously pressed forward along the wall, but suddenly, I nearly spat blood...

God, please don’t do this to me!

The icy path abruptly ended halfway through. Ahead, there was no road—only a smooth ice wall. Looking from a distance, it was truly broken off, the gap stretching about 50 meters. Far beyond, I could make out a colossal figure, perhaps the Yeti King. Even if it was, there was no way to reach that side now. I am neither an angel nor a birdman—I can’t just sprout wings out of nowhere.

Looking down, the spiral ice path to the next level was not too far, about 30 meters below. The lower path was wider, roughly 10 meters across. Judging by my abilities, a jump down there might be possible. The only concern was the dense crowd of monsters below—could I survive the landing?

After a few minutes of thought, I decided to jump. Since fate had brought me here, I would accept it calmly.

Adjusting my distance and angle, I clenched a pinch of fluorescent powder tightly in my hand…

“One!”

“Two!”

“Three!”

Jump! As I soared through the air, I quickly scattered the fluorescent powder while activating my enhanced stealth skill. My figure gradually faded during the descent until it vanished entirely!

Yes! Success! Enhanced stealth can be activated mid-jump!

“Boom!”

I crashed heavily onto the ice. The system promptly notified me: You suffered severe impact damage, losing 234 HP and stunned for 3 seconds!

*My head hit the ground first!*

Because of my stealth, only monsters within three yards noticed me and attacked. Glancing around, there were fewer monsters behind me near the wall, so I quickly retreated with the group of monsters chasing me.

Drinking health potions while swinging wildly, after five minutes, I finally cut down all the monsters surrounding me. A level 35 green mage cloak dropped—it was useless for now, so I stored it to sell later.

Many monsters still roamed nearby. Turning left would lead back to where I came from; going right would lead downward, possibly to the Ice Snow Queen’s domain. Earlier, I had seen a massive figure on the opposite side, likely the Yeti King. I decided to fight my way back to check it out—after all, the experience was decent, and the chance of rare drops was far higher than the wild monsters outside.

Though the distance seemed short, the dense monsters made progress slow. I stepped over corpse after corpse, my experience bar surging upward. If only I had an area attack skill from the physical class, I’d be drowning in experience by now!

After an hour of relentless combat, I finally cleared a path on this level. Monsters grew sparse ahead, and I could clearly see the boss—a level 45 Yeti King. Its massive body was nearly twice the size of ordinary Yetis, with four arms. Its snowball throws were probably much fiercer.

As expected, before I even approached, the Yeti King spotted me and slammed a basketball-sized snowball on my head!

“214!”

That hurt! I charged forward, unleashing my Ice Slash without holding back. After swiftly dispatching two smaller monsters nearby, I focused on the Yeti King. Fortunately, though its attacks hit hard, its attack speed was moderate. Drinking three health potions per minute and relying on my regeneration, I barely managed to keep up the fight.

Low defense and HP seemed a common weakness among the Icewind monsters, and the Yeti King was no exception. For a level 45 boss, I could still take off 1,000 HP with a single strike—a dream come true. In the world of Moon Everlasting, attack power depends on a player’s agility and system-defined stats. Upon becoming a rogue, the system automatically grants a 1.5 times attack power advantage compared to other classes. Adding agility points further boosts this, with each thousand agility points increasing attack power by 1x. So, a rogue with 1,000 agility points wields 2.5 times the attack power of other classes. Swordsmen, by comparison, gain less attack from agility—about 1x per 2,000 points.

I currently had nearly 200 agility points, so my attack power was about 1.1 times that of players in basic gear. Though not enormous, the increase was noticeable. The Yeti King’s less than 100,000 HP was quickly whittled down as if slicing through melons and vegetables. Five minutes later, this once overbearing mini-boss collapsed obediently.

I was surprised by the Yeti King’s weakness, so I didn’t expect much from its drops. Looking down, only a pristine white spear lay on the ground, alongside a sizable pile of gold coins.

I swiftly collected everything, then withdrew a small dagger to carve out the Yeti King’s heart. The scene wasn’t gory—perhaps the game developers wanted to maintain social harmony. I merely traced a few symbolic cuts across its chest, and a bright red heart appeared in my inventory.

There were nearly 100 gold coins, and the spear’s attributes caught my eye—

Ice Snow Halberd (Weapon – Blue Quality)

Attack: 185-270

Strength: +24

Stamina: +32

Agility: +18

Special: 10% chance on hit to inflict ice and snow power on the opponent, reducing their attack power by 50% for 15 seconds

Required Level: 36

Another high-attack weapon with special effects, and its level requirement was quite low. In a couple of days, I could probably sell it for a hefty sum!

Now that I had the Yeti King’s heart, I didn’t know how to return to turn in the quest. Descending was easy, but going back up was difficult. It seemed I’d have to wait until the next run to complete the mission along the way.

Checking my equipment’s durability, I saw it was still half full. With two hours left before dinner, returning to town now would be pointless. Better to stay here, keep killing monsters, gain experience, and earn money.

Having made up my mind, I organized potions and items in my bag before heading further down.

Two hours later, I was dizzy from nonstop monster slaying. Luckily, the drop rate here was generous. In that time, I had acquired two green items and over a dozen white ones. Selling them would easily cover my living expenses.
