Chapter 102: Temporal Shift
“Me?” Time and Space was slightly taken aback. Her power simply could not support the migration of the earth, especially when the very land of the Mortal Realm was about to undergo such a monumental change.
“Your Highness, how could it possibly be Time and Space? She doesn’t possess such strength,” Four Seasons said, bewildered. If she truly had that power, why wait until now?
“Time and Space, it seems that Fengdu City has made you forget your true duty,” Nuoluo’s smile gradually stiffened. Time and Space still had not grasped her real intention.
Time and Space thought swiftly. Her gaze shifted from confusion to clarity as she guessed Nuoluo’s true meaning.
“Your Highness, could it be a temporal inversion?” Time and Space’s face flushed slightly. She had indeed forgotten her responsibility, no wonder she was being reproached. How had she overlooked such a critical matter?
Nuoluo nodded. Time and Space understood her implication, though it was uncertain if their previous blind obedience had caused them to forget their most authentic circumstances—a troubling sign.
Temporal inversion instantly reverses time, halting everything in the Mortal Realm for a brief moment. Yet, it carries immense risk. If a powerful force were to exploit this suspended moment to attack the Mortal Realm, incalculable losses would ensue. Time and Space never used her power lightly, and such an act required Nuoluo’s approval.
“But Your Highness, I can only maintain it for a very short time. Will it hinder your plan?” Time and Space worried. Temporal inversion consumed tremendous energy, and the duration was extremely brief. She wasn’t certain if she could sustain it until Nuoluo’s plan was complete.
“You need not worry about that. I have considered all factors carefully. If nothing unexpected arises, it should proceed smoothly. Thank you for your effort.”
Time and Space felt a surge of joy at finally sharing the burden with her sovereign. Though it would drain some of her power, she could recover gradually.
Four Seasons anxiously watched Nuoluo from the side. Had the princess forgotten her? Why was she left out of all arrangements in this matter?
Nuoluo and Time and Space meticulously arranged every detail to ensure nothing went wrong. They seemed to have truly forgotten Four Seasons’ existence.
It was not until the last detail was confirmed that Nuoluo finally turned her gaze to Four Seasons.
Four Seasons looked at Nuoluo expectantly. What role would she be given?
Nuoluo was silent.
Unable to hold back, Four Seasons asked, “Your Highness, what about me?” Could she really be absent?
“Four Seasons, you must ensure that we are not disturbed during this time. Can you do that?”
Four Seasons felt somewhat dejected. She still could not participate; the princess must have said this to soothe her. Who would dare disturb them? But since the order was given, she had no choice but to obey.
As night cloaked the earth, people slept in darkness, bidding farewell to the day’s clamor. The myriad lights of households had already extinguished.
Nuoluo and Time and Space left Fengdu City, with Four Seasons accompanying them.
Four Seasons appeared somewhat downcast, saddened by her exclusion, yet somewhat comforted that the princess had not left her behind in Fengdu City.
---
The God of Sleep remained in Fengdu City, along with Niao Niao.
Niao Niao strongly opposed this arrangement. Nuoluo spent a long time calming her furious spirit before she finally stayed behind.
According to Nuoluo, only Niao Niao could restrain the God of Sleep’s power. Although Niao Niao understood this, she was still angry. Lately, wherever Nuoluo went, she was always left behind in Fengdu City. She was nearly suffocated by the monotony. Especially when seeing the detestable God of Sleep, Niao Niao’s mood grew heavier. Fortunately, Nuoluo promised to take her along next time.
Leaving Fengdu City in Niao Niao’s care put Nuoluo at ease. After all, Niao Niao and the God of Sleep restrained each other, so no abnormality was feared. Otherwise, Nuoluo would have kept Four Seasons.
Nuoluo and Time and Space stood against the wind, having chosen the best location. There could be no mistakes during the temporal inversion; the consequences would be unimaginable.
The night grew more mysterious, no sound daring to disturb this silence.
“Your Highness, we may begin.” Time and Space was prepared, though a hint of nervousness colored her expression. This was not her first temporal inversion, yet something within her stirred uneasily. Especially now, looking at Nuoluo, she felt deep concern.
Nuoluo smiled faintly. “Time and Space, don’t be nervous. Just use your normal strength.” She saw Time and Space’s worry and comforted her while encouraging herself.
Compared to Time and Space, Nuoluo was even more worried. Her injury ached faintly. After all this time, why had she not healed? Yet she dared not show any sign of weakness. If she faltered, Time and Space might lose control, worsening the outcome.
Time and Space blamed herself silently. She must give it her all.
“Begin.” Nuoluo’s gentle voice carried the weight of absolute necessity. Time and Space was ready.
The sleeping people would never imagine the earth would move beneath the cover of night. Unaware, they lay in slumber. But Nuoluo knew the danger now.
Time and Space raised her hand high, her fingertips tracing nearly invisible spatial marks. The night darkened, almost swallowing everything.
She cleared her mind, nearly empty, yet her fingers moved swiftly, leaving incomprehensible symbols in the air.
The air grew still, then ceased altogether. Everything stopped—the wind, the movement.
Time and Space’s complexion paled. She fought through discomfort; this inversion was more difficult than any before, as if some force resisted her. She had to wield greater power to overcome it.
The earth halted. Every life ceased its course, frozen in this precious moment.
Her fingers danced in the air, crafting ever more intricate symbols. The earth had stopped instantly; next came the transformation of time and space within the stillness.
A figure stood between heaven and earth—small yet impossible to ignore, fragile yet wielding the power to reshape the world. At this moment, she seemed the master of all creation.
Time and Space commanded everything, having completely overcome the restraining force from the start, fully unleashing her true strength.
The heavens and earth were finally in her hands. Strangely, her power did not wane but grew, as if some force poured into her body, replenishing her losses.
---
Time and Space did not look at Nuoluo, but she knew that if anything went wrong, her sovereign would aid her at the crucial moment.
A thrill of happiness welled within her. The worst fears had not come to pass. She had succeeded in the temporal inversion. Now, she must maintain it until Nuoluo completed the land migration.
At this moment, the Mortal Realm was wholly immersed in the goddess of time and space’s control. In the serene night, all life’s motion had stopped.
Nuoluo sensed the world’s change and relaxed her tense fingers with relief. The previous moment had been perilous—at the critical point, disaster had nearly struck. Who was secretly sabotaging their efforts?
The vast earth showed no sign of anomaly. She detected no abnormal energy source. Helpless, she quietly infused her power into Time and Space without alerting her.
Fortunately, Time and Space remained unaware, fully focused on the inversion, oblivious to the earlier disturbance. Had her mind wavered even slightly, the entire inversion might have failed.
In this space, even the slightest change in Time and Space transmitted massive effects. Only her calm could preserve the land’s stillness.
Thankfully, she sensed nothing.
Time and Space, standing between heaven and earth, maintained the inversion. She was as serene as if fused with the world itself. No external interference could shake her.
She sealed off all outside influence, placing herself in absolute silence. Her stillness became the stillness of the land. She bought Nuoluo precious time. The temporal inversion was complete.
---
A faint “crack” sounded, like something snapping—subtle, almost unnoticed. Under normal circumstances, no one would hear it, but in this profound silence, it was piercing, like thunder following lightning across the sky.
One crack was followed by another, then another, until they came in unbroken succession. All sounds echoed from deep within the earth, from fathomless depths.
After the noise, silence returned, as if the sounds had been illusions, or perhaps a prelude to fiercer change.
Suddenly, a muffled “boom” shattered the quiet. The earth began to tremble slightly.
Nuoluo’s feet were no exception. She listened intently to every shift beneath her, deciphering the meaning carried by the sounds. The soil beneath was separating from the surface.
This separation was not confined to where she stood; it spread outward to distant lands.
She did not relax. The tension in her fingertips betrayed her anxiety. Fortunately, the earth’s tremors remained under her control. If she lost command now, the entire order of heaven and earth would instantly collapse.
The underground sounds slowly traveled farther until reaching Nuoluo’s desired destination. All the land she required had separated. Next, she would extract this subterranean land and move it to Fengdu City.
Once these lands arrived safely in Fengdu City, the final obstacle on the path of reincarnation would be removed.
