Chapter 111: The Onslaught of the Yellow Wind

Living Water Islet, a small sandbank in the Qingyuan River, was once an unremarkable place. However, the Lu family discovered a pool here imbued with a vibrant life force. They found it remarkably effective in nourishing plants, and thus, at great expense, transformed this area into their private herb garden.
Today, it has become a vital spiritual herb garden for the Lu family, cultivating various first-grade spiritual herbs. Beyond that, the Lu family even established an alchemy workshop here, harnessing the living water to nurture their pills.
As such a critical location, the Lu family naturally valued it highly and had long set up protective formations to guard the entire islet. Although floods occasionally ravaged the area, the formation’s power mitigated much of the damage.
Unfortunately, this place lies near a water vein node of the Qingyuan River. After the flood, a violent earthquake struck, churning the river and shifting the mountains. The grand protective formation on the White Sand Islet was shaken; while it did not collapse outright, its power was greatly diminished.
“Be careful with your movements; those spiritual herbs are extremely delicate.”
Within the herb garden, Elder Lu Yongxing of the Lu family looked on sorrowfully at the withering, lifeless herbs. His hair was white like snow, his stature short and stocky, with flushed cheeks and a faint scent of alcohol lingering about him.
“These are the foundation of our family.”
He gently lifted a spiritual herb, carefully assessing its condition.
As the family’s alchemist and the guardian of Living Water Islet, Lu Yongxing had immediately begun rescuing the herbs after the flood subsided. The protective formation for the islet was a secondary concern for now. Although weakened by the earthquake, it still functioned at a basic level.
Most importantly, this was Qingyuan County—no one dared to attack the Lu family’s herb garden here.
Hearing Elder Lu’s words, the others handled the herbs with increasing gentleness, fearful of damaging them and drawing his displeasure. Lu Yongxing was not only the family’s alchemist but also a fully accomplished Qi cultivator, holding a high status within the Lu clan.
While the Lu family cultivators on Living Water Islet busily tried to salvage their losses, a flying vessel approached, shrouded in a veil of yellow wind. The Yellow Wind Sect’s members, hidden within this cover, drew near unnoticed.
“Remember, pills and spiritual herbs are the most important. Take as many as you can. Don’t waste time fighting—it’s Qingyuan County after all. If the disturbance here is detected, Lu family reinforcements will arrive quickly.”
“If you’re too slow, I won’t be able to save you.”
Standing at the bow and gazing at Living Water Islet now visible in the distance, the Yellow Wind Wanderer spoke in a hoarse voice, his tone laced with a subtle warning.

At his words, the followers bowed in agreement, fully understanding that killing was a means to an end, not their ultimate goal.
Moments later, the flying vessel drew closer to Living Water Islet. By then, some Lu family cultivators had sensed something amiss, but before they could act, a member of the Yellow Wind Sect produced a formation-breaking spike.
Humming, the spike descended, emanating a corrupt spiritual light. The already unstable grand formation of the islet was instantly rent open, creating a breach. Immediately, the Yellow Wind Sect members surged through this gap, tearing apart the formation entirely.
In that instant, Living Water Islet was like an egg stripped of its shell—completely exposed to the elements.
“Kill! Kill! Kill!”
Fueled by fierce morale and using their various skills, the Yellow Wind Sect cultivators charged at the islet.
Caught off guard, the Lu family cultivators on the islet panicked briefly. At this critical moment, Lu Yongxing stepped forward.
“How bold!”
Waves splashed at his feet as he waved his hand, summoning a storm of rain arrows that rained down, holding back the Yellow Wind Sect attackers with his own strength.
Seeing this, the Yellow Wind Wanderer’s gaze flickered. The Yellow Wind Sect indeed had two fully accomplished Qi cultivators serving as their left and right protectors, but neither had come this time, remaining in Changfeng County to contend with imperial forces.
“Nothing but an empty shell propped up by pills, yet they dare show off before me.”
Beneath his mask, his expression was calm. The Yellow Wind Wanderer’s withered hand slowly withdrew from his sleeve.
In the next moment, a violent gust rose, transforming into a hundred-meter tornado that swept away the storm arrows. It then morphed into a colossal hand, slamming down toward Lu Yongxing.
Lu Yongxing’s expression changed drastically. Hastily, he summoned a pill furnace as a shield, dodging in panic rather than confronting the attack head-on.
Boom! The giant hand struck the ground, creating a hundred-meter-wide crater where Lu Yongxing had stood.

“An accomplished Qi cultivator... The Yellow Wind Wanderer? How did he suddenly appear here, and why is he attacking my Lu family?”
Barely evading the strike, his heart pounding, Lu Yongxing’s face twisted with despair.
If the first-grade grand formation on Living Water Islet had remained intact, with his cultivation, he could have withstood the Yellow Wind Wanderer or at least held out until Lu family reinforcements arrived. But without the formation, he was no match.
Though the difference between an accomplished Qi cultivator and one who had reached full Qi mastery was slight, the latter had fully opened 108 energy orifices and completed the Great Cycle, granting far superior circulation and recovery speeds. This gave a tremendous advantage over even an accomplished Qi cultivator.
“Enough, it’s come to this. Regret is useless now—I must fight with all I have.”
Glancing at his comrades, Lu Yongxing sighed inwardly.
If he were alone, he might try to escape by diving into the Qingyuan River, but with many Lu family cultivators here, his flight would doom them all.
“Everyone, listen to my orders. Do not engage the enemy. Fall back immediately and regroup at the alchemy workshop.”
Holding the emerald pill furnace, his true Qi surging, Lu Yongxing issued the command.
Though the grand formation of Living Water Islet was destroyed, a smaller formation protected the alchemy workshop. While weaker than the main formation, it was sufficient for the moment.
This strategy essentially conceded all the spiritual herbs to the Yellow Wind Sect marauders, but preserving the lives of Lu family cultivators was paramount. Compared to a single harvest of herbs, these people were the Lu family’s true foundation.
Without hesitation, the Lu family cultivators moved to obey the order.
Observing this, the Yellow Wind Wanderer’s gaze shifted, but he did not immediately intervene. The other Yellow Wind Sect members busied themselves gathering the spiritual herbs, showing little interest in pursuing a fight. After all, battles could be deadly; the foes might be enemies or themselves.
