Su Wan was momentarily stunned, but quickly pulled her hand back. She pressed her lips together. "I'm fine. What are you doing here?"

Mu Yunshen picked up the medicine bottle, glanced at the label, and placed it back on her desk. "You left in such a rush yesterday that you forgot something."

Su Wan looked at him.

Mu Yunshen placed a bank card in front of her. "One million. Is that enough?"

Su Wan’s expression changed.

Mu Yunshen smiled at her. "Don’t worry, this money is absolutely clean."

Su Wan took a deep breath. "Thank you for your support, Mr. Mu. May I ask in what form you’d like to invest this sum? Is it as a shareholder or…"

She broke off mid-sentence, for the man in front of her had circled around her desk and was approaching. Su Wan was genuinely afraid of him. Without thinking, she reached out and pressed her hand against his chest. "Mr. Mu, please behave yourself!"

Her ears were tinged red, and she dared not even look at him. Her demeanor made Mu Yunshen laugh.

He said, "As I said, this money is just a loan. I’m a straightforward man—I don’t understand all that talk about shares and so on."

"Then please wait a moment, Mr. Mu. I’ll write you an IOU."

"No need." Mu Yunshen took hold of her outstretched hand. Su Wan immediately pulled away and looked up at him in annoyance.

Only then did Mu Yunshen realize she was genuinely angry. He straightened up, raised his hands, and smiled. "I, Mu Yunshen, have never needed an IOU to lend money. With such a large company, Miss Su, do you really think I’m afraid you’ll run off?"

Su Wan looked at him.

After a moment, she finally said, "Since you insist, I won’t argue. I promise to pay you back the full amount, with interest, within three months."

"And if you can’t repay me?"

Mu Yunshen’s words made Su Wan freeze.

Taking advantage of her stunned silence, Mu Yunshen said, "If you can’t pay it back, then be my girlfriend. How about that?"

"If you don’t answer, I’ll take it as a yes. I have things to do, so I’ll be going now."

He didn’t give Su Wan a chance to reply, simply turned and left, leaving her staring after him, utterly dumbfounded.

A moment later, her secretary walked in. "President Su, the gentleman who just left said to remind you to take him off your blacklist…"

——

Mu Yunshen had written the password on the back of the bank card. Su Wan glanced at it and realized—it was her birthday.

How did he know?

Still, now that the money issue was resolved, the gloom that had weighed on Su Wan for half a month finally lifted a little. Her father urged her to come home, so that very day, Su Wan drove back.

The moment she stepped inside, her smile vanished.

In the living room, Wen Shaoran and his father were seated with her own father. They’d been chatting and laughing, but as soon as they saw Su Wan, Wen Shaoran immediately stood up. "Wanwan, you’re back."

He looked as if nothing had changed between them, as though they were still deeply in love.

Su Wan’s expression was cold as she withdrew her hand. "Why are you here?"

"Wanwan, are you still angry with me?" Wen Shaoran said with a smile, turning to her father. "It’s all my fault—I always upset Wanwan."

"Wanwan, you’re an adult now, don’t be so willful," her father said, though his eyes were full of affection. "Your Uncle Wen and I were just saying, this year, let’s settle things between you two."

"Settle what?" Su Wan frowned. "We’ve already broken up. There’s no way we’re getting married."
