Su Wan was in so much pain that tears welled in her eyes. “Let go!”

Only then did Mu Yunshen seem to come to his senses at the sound of her voice, loosening his grip.

Su Wan gritted her teeth and looked at him.

“Sorry, it’s just a habit. When I sleep, I don’t like anyone touching me,” Mu Yunshen said, his gaze fixed on Su Wan’s hand.

“This is your phone. Just now, inside, I accidentally... answered a call,” Su Wan quickly handed the phone to him.

Mu Yunshen stood up abruptly, took the phone, and walked out to the balcony.

Watching his retreating figure, Su Wan found it hard to associate him with the careless, roguish man she’d seen in the bar.

But it was indeed her fault regarding the phone, so while he was on the call, Su Wan took the opportunity to tidy up his room a bit.

He returned soon after, paused for a moment at the sight of her cleaning, and said, “A housekeeper will be here later. You don’t need to do this.”

“About last night... thank you. And I’m sorry about the call just now.”

“It’s fine.” He picked up the jacket beside him. “I’ll drive you home.”

“No need, I’ll just get a cab.”

“I happen to be heading out too. It’s on the way.”

Though his words were casual, they carried a tone that brooked no refusal. Su Wan could only follow him.

She found her own phone in her bag. When she saw the missed calls, her face turned pale.

Su Wan immediately dialed back. “Dad, what’s the matter?”

“Last night? Last night I...” She instinctively glanced at the man beside her and said, “I’m fine. I just drank a bit too much with a friend.”

“It’s fine, I’ve handled everything at the company. Really, everything’s fine...”

After finally ending the call, Su Wan breathed a sigh of relief.

Mu Yunshen glanced at her. “Isn’t your company about to go under?”

“Says who?”

“The other night, the girl accompanying your client told me. They don’t really intend to invest; they're just stringing you along.”

Su Wan’s face turned ashen. Suddenly, Mu Yunshen turned the wheel and pulled the car over.

He looked at her. “If you need money, I can lend it to you.”

His eyes narrowed slightly, lips tilted in a half-smile. Su Wan, looking at him, instinctively shrank back. “Thank you, but I don’t need it.”

“Are you sure?”

Not wanting to argue, Su Wan simply unbuckled her seatbelt and reached for the door, only to find it was locked.

She turned to him. “Just drop me here. I’ll walk the rest of the way.”

“If you need anything, add me back on WeChat. I’m always here.”

Mu Yunshen smiled, unlocked the door, and Su Wan said no more. She got out.

The SUV sped off before her.

Su Wan turned, hailed a taxi, and headed straight to Mr. Zhou’s company.

He had already refused to see her.

For the sake of this investment, Su Wan hadn’t eaten or slept properly for a week, only to be met with such an outcome. Worse yet, the factory had started demanding payment; if she couldn’t transfer the money on time, her company might truly be finished...

Staring at the profile picture on WeChat, Su Wan hesitated for a long time before finally adding him back.

Almost instantly, a message arrived.

“Have you thought it through?”

“You’ll really lend me the money?”

“Of course, but...”

Su Wan waited a long while, watching as “the other party is typing” lingered on the screen, until finally his next message arrived.

“You’ll have to have dinner with me.”
