Mu Yunshen’s face was twisted with rage, so much so that Wen Shaoran instinctively took several steps back. Suddenly recalling something, he spun around to grab the phone and call the police. But before he could, Mu Yunshen strode forward and delivered a vicious kick to his stomach. The blow was swift and merciless. Wen Shaoran grunted in pain, but Mu Yunshen was far from finished. He advanced and kicked him several more times, each blow fiercer than the last.

“Stop it! You little thug, stop it right now!” Wen Shaoran tried to shield his face, but the pain soon robbed him of speech.

Mu Yunshen glanced at the bed. When he saw Su Wan’s clothing had been undone, his face grew even darker, rage flaring in his eyes. He drew the dagger from his belt, meaning to drive it into the man before him, when Pi Zi rushed forward. “Brother Shen, don’t be rash! Please, go check on your wife—leave this to me!”

Only then did Mu Yunshen lower the blade. He turned away and strode toward Su Wan.

Su Wan had slipped into a deep coma, oblivious to the chaos unfolding around her. Seeing her in this state, Mu Yunshen’s anger blazed even hotter. Forcing himself to stay calm, he draped his coat over her and gathered her into his arms.

Meanwhile, Pi Zi handcuffed Wen Shaoran to the balcony railing and confiscated his phone. Wen Shaoran glared after them, seething. “You remember this! Mu, I’ll kill you for this!”

Mu Yunshen ignored him and walked straight out. He’d seen plenty of filth like this in the club, but thankfully, that bastard had only drugged her into unconsciousness—nothing worse had happened.

Carrying Su Wan, Mu Yunshen took her directly to his own room. Gu Yan had been waiting outside. When she saw him carrying Su Wan, she froze in surprise. She just managed to say, “Brother Shen—” before Mu Yunshen barked, “Get out!”

Gu Yan stood rooted to the spot.

Su Wan had no idea how long she’d slept. Her mind was groggy and clouded. When she opened her eyes, unfamiliar yet oddly familiar lights met her gaze. The scenes from before she lost consciousness flashed through her mind. She sat up abruptly, checking her clothes.

“You’re awake?” came a voice.

Su Wan’s hand froze mid-motion. She looked up.

Mu Yunshen sat there, his gaze dark and brooding.

Su Wan’s breath caught. Once she was sure nothing had happened to her, she stood. “Thank you,” she said simply.

She turned to leave, but Mu Yunshen stood as well, grabbing her and pinning her against the wall.

He lowered his head. “Thank you? Do you know what would have happened last night if I hadn’t gone?”

Of course Su Wan hadn’t forgotten. But meeting his gaze, she replied steadily, enunciating each word, “You seem to forget—he’s my fiancé now. This is our business.”

Mu Yunshen’s expression changed. He slammed his fist into the wall by her ear with a loud bang.

The noise made Su Wan flinch, but her eyes remained calm.

Mu Yunshen gritted his teeth. “If you’re so certain he’s your fiancé, why bother provoking me?”

“Weren’t you the one who started it?” she retorted.

Mu Yunshen had no response. After a moment, he gave a bitter laugh and let her go. “Fine. Go, then. Consider it settled between us.”

Su Wan didn’t hesitate. She turned to leave—only to notice the blood smeared across his hand. She stopped in her tracks.
