Chapter 4: It's Just a Broken Heart
"You! Do you have any idea who I am?" Wen Shaoran's face was contorted with fury and frustration.
Mu Yunshen kept his arm wrapped securely around Su Wan. She tried to break free, but the man before her was unbelievably strong; trapped by his hold, she couldn't move an inch.
"And do you know who I am?" Mu Yunshen sat comfortably in his chair, eyes narrowed in challenge. "Didn't you see she doesn't want to go with you? Dragging her away like that—do you think you're some kind of kidnapper?"
"This is between me and my girlfriend!" Wen Shaoran shot Su Wan a look. "I was right after all—he's your next conquest, isn't he? Su Wan, you really are desperate. You'd settle for a thug like him?"
"And who are you calling a thug?"
A voice rang out. Su Wan turned her head to see a group of people nearby rise to their feet in unison.
Wen Shaoran's face shifted instantly. Mu Yunshen glanced at the group, and only then did they sit back down.
Mu Yunshen kept his easy smile. "Mr. Wen, was it? I'm a reasonable man. You say Su Wan is your girlfriend—if she wants to leave with you, I won't stop her. But if she doesn't..."
He turned to Su Wan. She pressed her lips together and looked at Wen Shaoran. "You should go."
Wen Shaoran's fists clenched, but he knew forcing the issue would bring him no good. He simply raised a finger to the man before him. "Remember this!"
"Of course, Mr. Wen. And remember my name—Mu Yunshen."
Wen Shaoran ignored him and stormed away.
Only after watching him leave did Mu Yunshen finally let go. Su Wan quickly stepped back, putting distance between them.
She parted her lips, searching for words, but before she could speak, Mu Yunshen raised a hand. "No need to thank me. This is my place. If I let him take you away like that, wouldn’t I lose face?"
Su Wan offered a fleeting smile, but it faded just as quickly.
Mu Yunshen watched her, then slid a bottle of liquor her way. "What's the matter? Heartbreak? Who hasn't been there? Last time in the parking lot—do you know how I got hurt?"
Su Wan looked at him.
He gave a wry smile. "I had my heart broken too. And she didn't just stab me emotionally—she stabbed me for real."
Su Wan couldn't remember how much she drank that night. She only recalled being pulled onto the dance floor by Mu Yunshen, spinning under the lights. After that, everything went black.
When she woke, she was in an unfamiliar room.
Clothes and belongings were scattered messily across the floor. Su Wan bolted upright in bed. She lifted the covers—thankfully, she was still dressed.
But before she could think further, her phone rang sharply.
At that moment, Su Wan truly didn't think much of it. Without a second thought, she answered, "Hello?"
Silence on the other end.
She tried again. "Hello?"
Still no reply. Then the caller abruptly hung up.
Su Wan stared at the phone in her hand for a long time before a realization hit her: this wasn't her phone.
She jumped out of bed at once. Opening the door, she found Mu Yunshen sprawled asleep on the sofa. The couch was too small for him, his long legs dangling off the edge. The floor was a mess—a true bachelor's den.
Su Wan hesitated, then walked over. "Mr... Mr. Mu?"
No response.
She reached out to poke him. The moment her finger brushed his arm, the man—who seemed fast asleep—snapped awake, seized her wrist, twisted it behind her back, and in one swift motion, pinned her to the floor!
