Chapter 38: Just So, I Am the Same
When Su Wan saw him, her face betrayed little emotion. She forcefully pulled Bo Yezhou’s hand from her own and walked toward the restroom.
Almost immediately, someone grabbed her.
She didn’t need to guess who it was; the strength of the grip made it obvious.
She turned, “Let go.”
“Why are you here?”
She let out a cold laugh. “Mr. Mu, that’s a funny question. This is a restaurant—why shouldn’t I be here?”
“What’s your relationship with Bo Yezhou?”
Su Wan frowned and looked at him.
Mu Yunshen hurried to explain, “I know he’s the new chief inspector at the police station. How did you get involved with him?”
“I don’t owe you any explanation.” Su Wan tried to free her hand, but Mu Yunshen’s grip was strong. The more she struggled, the tighter he held.
“Mr. Mu, let go!”
“So he’s the reason you broke up with me?” Mu Yunshen suddenly said.
Su Wan stiffened, then looked at him. “What did you say?”
“You said you went to the police station that night, so you must have seen him then, right? The chief inspector. The business between Gu Yan and me was just your excuse, wasn’t it?”
Su Wan’s whole body began to tremble. She gritted her teeth, “Mu Yunshen, I told you to let go!”
“Fine.” Mu Yunshen sneered and released her hand. “I must be a fool, running around trying to find you. Now I see—I’m in your way, aren’t I? Of course, you’re the deputy mayor’s daughter. You should be with someone like him, right? That’s what’s proper, isn’t it?”
“Get lost!” Su Wan’s eyes reddened. “Mu Yunshen, I never want to see you again!”
“That’s good. I feel the same.”
With that, he turned and walked away, without a second’s hesitation.
Su Wan staggered, steadying herself against the wall.
She wiped her eyes fiercely, turned, and was about to leave, only to find Bo Yezhou standing there, watching them—who knew for how long.
Su Wan acted as if she hadn’t seen him and walked on.
Bo Yezhou stepped in her way, but before he could speak, Su Wan looked at him. “Don’t flatter yourself. It’s not because of you! Bo Yezhou, unless you want me to tell my father what you did to me back then, get out of my way!”
His hand slowly dropped.
Su Wan didn’t spare him a glance and walked away.
When she got home, she called Su Yichuan, telling him something had come up and she wouldn’t be joining them for dinner.
Su Yichuan scolded her for a bit, but Su Wan didn’t really listen, responding vaguely and then hanging up.
Because she hadn’t eaten dinner, Su Wan’s stomach started hurting in the middle of the night. She tried to get up to drink water, but as soon as her foot touched the floor, she collapsed.
Sitting on the floor, thoughts swirling, tears streamed down her face.
But quickly, she wiped them away and used a chair to pull herself up.
She had barely taken two steps when her phone rang.
She glanced at the name, pressed her lips together, and hung up.
But the caller was persistent.
Su Wan had no choice but to answer. “What is it?”
“Miss Su, I’m really sorry about everything this time. I just heard from Brother Shen that you two broke up, and I—”
“It’s none of your business,” Su Wan cut her off. “And it’s two in the morning. You called just to tell me this?”
“…I—I wanted to tell you that Brother Shen drank too much tonight and… we were together. So, could you please… stop contacting him?”
