Chapter 23: Coward

Wen Shaoran chose a particularly high-profile Western restaurant and opted for a table in the lobby. Today, the news about the two of them had just been released, and as Su Wan sat down, she could feel countless gazes from around them landing on the pair.

Suppressing her discomfort, she looked at the person in front of her and asked, "Can you tell me now?"

Wen Shaoran elegantly cut into his steak. "Of course, but if you hear it, you need to stay calm."

Su Wan frowned.

Wen Shaoran put down his knife and fork, wiped his mouth, and looked at her. "Last night, he got into a fight and is currently lying in the hospital!"

"What did you say?" Su Wan's voice was particularly jarring in the restaurant. Wen Shaoran took her hand, "I told you, don't get excited."

Su Wan pulled her hand away. "I just remembered I have something to do. I need to leave."

Wen Shaoran didn't stop her; after all, his purpose had already been achieved.

Su Wan didn't drive and hailed a taxi to the hospital. When the driver asked which hospital she wanted to go to, she realized she didn't know.

"Renhe Hospital." Someone opened the front passenger door, sat down, and said.

Su Wan looked at him with a steady gaze. "I want to go by myself."

"Our marriage has just been announced. It's not appropriate for you to go alone."

Su Wan's hands clenched tightly. To be led around like this, honestly, anyone would feel uncomfortable.

Especially when it was someone she didn't even like.

They arrived at the hospital quickly. Wen Shaoran initially wanted to follow her, but Su Wan turned around and glanced at him.

He stopped in his tracks. "Alright, I'll wait for you here."

Su Wan walked ahead by herself.

Before she reached the ward, she heard a voice.

"Brother Shen, I'm sorry. It's all my fault; I thought it would be fine..."

Su Wan peeked inside and saw Li Man sitting beside Mu Yunshen's bed, crying inconsolably.

Mu Yunshen lay on the bed, reaching out to ruffle her hair. "Don't worry, I won't die."

Su Wan's hands clenched tightly.

At that moment, Li Man looked up and, upon seeing Su Wan, immediately reached out to hold Mu Yunshen's hand. "So, Brother Shen, I'll take care of you well in the hospital these days and won't go anywhere."

"No need." Mu Yunshen withdrew his hand. "It's just a small injury; I'll be discharged tomorrow."

"I..."

"The doctor said after lying down for a week, you'll still need to undergo an examination." Su Wan said as she walked in.

Mu Yunshen turned to her, his eyes narrowing slightly upon seeing her.

Su Wan pulled out a chair and sat opposite Li Man. "Is being stabbed three times just a small injury?"

Mu Yunshen suddenly smiled. "People like us live on the edge; it's nothing serious. By the way, I saw the news today. Congratulations."

Su Wan remained still. After a moment, she looked at Li Man. "Miss Li, can I speak with him alone for a moment?"

Li Man was a bit frustrated but had to hold back since Mu Yunshen was watching. She nodded, "Alright."

She left, glancing back multiple times.

Su Wan turned to Mu Yunshen. "Why did you fight?"

"It's something that happens often for us. It's either you hitting him or him hitting you. There's no reason to be surprised," Mu Yunshen replied with a smile. "What brings you here? Did you come with your fiancé?"

"Don't you have anything you want to say to me?" Su Wan took a deep breath.

"Didn't I already say it? Congratulations," he answered succinctly.

Su Wan stood up.

Just when Mu Yunshen thought she would turn and leave, she leaned down and kissed him directly!
