Mu Yunshen’s room was directly above the bar.

Su Wan followed behind Pi Zi. As they walked along the corridor, they encountered several heavily made-up women emerging from their rooms. Upon seeing Pi Zi, each greeted him respectfully, then glanced curiously at Su Wan.

At the end of the corridor, Pi Zi knocked on the door. “Brother Shen?”

The door opened swiftly, but it wasn't Mu Yunshen—it was Li Man.

Li Man’s gaze darkened the moment she spotted Su Wan behind Pi Zi. “What are you doing here?”

“I brought Sister Su over. Brother Shen’s inside, isn’t he?” Pi Zi said, stepping forward. But Li Man blocked the doorway, chin raised defiantly. “You can go in, but this woman cannot.”

“Why not? If Brother Shen sees Sister Su, he’ll be happy!”

“I said no, and that’s final!” Li Man replied without hesitation.

Su Wan frowned. “I don’t have to go in, but let Mu Yunshen come out and tell me himself.”

“You—”

“Who’s outside?” came a hoarse voice from within. Su Wan’s heart fluttered involuntarily at the sound.

“Brother Shen, it’s Sister Su! She’s come to see you!” Pi Zi called loudly, while Li Man’s expression changed with anger.

There was a moment of silence from inside, then, “Let her in.”

Li Man stamped her foot, but finally stepped aside.

Su Wan entered directly.

The room was reasonably tidy, though Su Wan, remembering the state of his other residence and seeing Li Man here, knew she must have just cleaned up.

Mu Yunshen lay on the bed, propped against the headboard. “Li Man, you and Pi Zi, leave.”

“Brother Shen…” Li Man bit her lip, about to approach, but Mu Yunshen shot her a glance.

She halted immediately, glared fiercely at Su Wan, then turned and left.

Su Wan stood at the foot of the bed. “You… what’s wrong?”

“Nothing. Why are you here?”

“I… I came because of that night…”

“If you’re here about that night, you needn’t say a word. If you have any issues, go to the police.”

“I’m not—”

Mu Yunshen looked at her. “Then what is it?”

Su Wan took a deep breath and simply pulled a card out of her bag. “This is the money you gave me before.”

Mu Yunshen looked at her outstretched hand and smiled faintly. “Alright, just leave it there.”

Su Wan bit her lip. “Do you remember what you said before? You said three months… but now, three months have passed.”

Mu Yunshen seemed momentarily surprised, then smiled at her. “Su Wan, I was only joking. You know, the one thing I never lack is women. I just thought you were interesting, but who knew you were the mayor’s daughter? That’s a joke I can’t afford to make.”

“You… what do you mean?”

“You don’t understand? I didn’t study much, but after so many visits to the police station, I know—I can’t afford to provoke you.”

Su Wan’s hand slowly curled into a fist.

Mu Yunshen picked up the glass of water beside him, drained it, and set it down. “Is there anything else?”

Su Wan drew a deep breath and smiled. “No. Anyway, thank you for saving me before. Goodbye.”

With that, she placed the bank card on the table and turned to leave.

The man on the bed made no move to follow.

Su Wan inhaled deeply, then said, “Oh, if fate allows, may I invite you to my engagement party?”
