"What did you say?" Mr. Su's brows immediately knit together, and Wen Shaoran stepped forward as well. "Wanwan, didn’t I already explain what happened last time—"

"Don’t think I don’t know. You put pressure on the factory, didn’t you?" Su Wan looked straight at him and spoke coldly. "You want me back so badly that you’d force my hand with such tricks? Unfortunately for you, I’ve already found an investor."

Wen Shaoran’s expression darkened. "Is it that thug from the bar? Aren’t you afraid of where his money comes from?"

"He’s my friend, not a thug!"

"Su Wan, what are you talking about?" Mr. Su’s voice grew stern as he looked at her.

Su Wan glanced at Wen Shaoran. "Dad, I won’t marry him. I’ve already returned the ring."

"Shaoran, what exactly did you do to let Su Wan down? And who is this person you just mentioned?" Before Mr. Su could speak, Mr. Wen interrupted, directing his accusation straight at Wen Shaoran.

"It was just a misunderstanding," Wen Shaoran answered at once. "Wanwan caught me having dinner with a female client. She wouldn’t listen to my explanation. Uncle Su, I was wrong for lying to her, but I did it for her sake! Now she insists on breaking up with me because of some guy from a bar. That man is nothing but a thug!"

"I told you, he’s not a thug," Su Wan interjected immediately.

Mr. Su raised his hand. "Enough! Not another word. Su Wan, this marriage has already been arranged. Since Shaoran says it was a misunderstanding, let’s put it behind us. As for this friend you mention, I won’t pry, but as for the marriage—"

"I absolutely will not get married," Su Wan cut him off, turning to Wen Shaoran’s father. "If you’re all convinced you’ve done nothing wrong, then let’s say I’m the problem. I’m the one who doesn’t want this marriage."

"This…" Mr. Wen quickly looked at Mr. Su, whose face was now livid. "Su Wan, how old are you? Still so willful! Apologize to Uncle Wen at once!"

"I’m not being willful." Su Wan had only wanted to have dinner with her father tonight, but it was clear now that was impossible.

She said, "Either way, you can’t force me into this marriage. I have other things to do. I’m leaving." With those words, she turned and strode off.

Wen Shaoran immediately chased after her. "Su Wan!"

As soon as his hand caught her arm, Su Wan shook him off and pointed at him. "That’s enough, Wen Shaoran. Don’t make me erase every last feeling I ever had for you."

"So you’re admitting it, Su Wan? You and that little thug—something’s going on between you two, isn’t there?"

"If that’s what you want to believe, go ahead." Su Wan was done explaining. She opened the car door and got in.

But Wen Shaoran quickly slipped into the passenger seat beside her.

"How long have you even known him? You’re really going to break up with me for his sake? Do you think now that your company has dodged this crisis, everything will be fine?"

"I don’t need your concern. Even if I go bankrupt, I’ll still survive in this city. Now, get out of my car!"

Wen Shaoran stared at her for a long moment, then nodded. "Fine. Very well! Su Wan, you’re forcing my hand!" He got out and slammed the door so hard it shook, but Su Wan didn’t spare him a glance and stepped on the gas.

"That little thug is just after your father’s status in North City! Just wait—you’ll regret it one day, when you have nowhere left to cry!"
