Chapter 111: Mysterious Revival
As the tomb faded from view, Yang Qiu’s script for this session reached its conclusion. Subsequent events would no longer be dictated by his script, but by the natural evolution of this world.
The cost Yang Qiu paid for this round of scripted evolution was substantial. He had completely depleted the five hundred years of psychic energy accumulated by the Ancient One, exhausted most of his own reserves, and drained the remaining savings gathered over millennia by the ruined divine kingdom of the ancient fire-worshipping cult.
Script Ten: Mystery Resurgent
Script Overview: The negligence of the Kamar-Taj sorcerers caused the previously stable world of mystery to begin fluctuating. During this period, the Sorcerer Supreme, the Ancient One, was exploited by Mephisto and died at the hands of the traitor Kaecilius. Emboldened by his success, the petty Kaecilius began attempting to steal the ultimate treasure of the ancient Shuriman Empire...
Script Evolution Result: Perfect
Products of Script Evolution: Shuriman personnel, Heavenly Court-Shushan personnel, Knights of the Round Table personnel, Heavenly Court-Grotto-Heaven (under construction), Heavenly Court-Earth Network, Clock Tower-Multiverse Portal, and a secondary increase in global energy levels.
Shuriman Personnel:
Azir: The final Emperor of Shuriman, one of the Ascended, legendary-class professional. Primarily masters laws pertaining to sunlight and deserts. Currently severely wounded and self-sealed, possessing the ultimate treasure, the Sun Disc.
Nasus: Guardian of Shuriman, former Grand Marshal, curator of the Shuriman National Library and Museum, one of the Ascended, legendary-class professional. Primarily masters laws of the soul. Currently lightly wounded and self-sealed.
Renekton: Shuriman General, leader of the Ascended Army, one of the Ascended, legendary-class professional. Primarily masters laws pertaining to slaughter and fury. Currently lightly wounded and self-sealed.
Xerath (Defected): Former Shuriman slave, twisted Ascendant, legendary-class professional. Primarily masters laws of arcane magic. Currently in a state awaiting resurrection.
Heavenly Court-Shushan Personnel:
Li Xiaoyao: Sect Leader of Shushan, possessing the triple-flower crown and five-element essence, legendary-class professional. Masters partial laws of the sword, possesses the ultimate treasure: the Five Spirit Beads.
One hundred and ten other Shushan members, including Zhao Ling'er (sub-legendary) and five Shushan Elders (high-level professionals).
Knights of the Round Table Personnel:
Artoria: King Arthur, supreme leader of the Knights of the Round Table, sub-legendary professional, possessing the ultimate treasure: the Sword of Promised Victory (both blade and scabbard).
Six other surviving key members of the Knights of the Round Table, including Gawain (departed) and Lancelot (departed).
Heavenly Court-Grotto-Heaven (Pending Evolution): A war-star constructed over five hundred years by the Heavenly Court. Due to the development of new technologies and revisions to design blueprints, it remains under construction. Completion date unknown. Currently located in the Oort Cloud, approximately one light-year from Earth, serving as the primary border defense for the Solar System-Earth (Midgard).
Heavenly Court-Earth Network: A network established by the Heavenly Court before their departure, containing mana imprints left by various Heavenly Court personnel. Underlings may invoke these imprints based on their authorization levels.
Clock Tower-Multiverse Portal: A portal initially established by the Clock Tower over five hundred years. It can establish connections with other multiverse worlds, but is currently idle due to a lack of target coordinates. The random activation function is disabled. It is currently located in the Oort Cloud, approximately two light-years from the Heavenly Court’s war-star.
Secondary Increase in Global Energy Levels: The planet's energy activity has surged again, further lowering the thresholds for advancing along various paths and for energy perception.
Settlement complete. At the distant edges of the Solar System, within the Oort Cloud, two behemoths appeared at opposite ends of the diameter centered on the Sun.
One was an illusory planet, only slightly smaller than Earth, shimmering with the brilliant light of formations, Taoist arts, and the Heavenly Dao defense network. Unreal silhouettes drifted across this planet, constructing infrastructure and modifying obsolete defensive and offensive facilities. This illusory state was the result of incomplete evolution; for these figures to become sentient, living beings, Yang Qiu would need to continue investing psychic energy and resources—roughly tens of times what had already been expended.
The other was a portal the size of the Moon. Its base colors blended with the vastness of the cosmos, though it was occasionally streaked with the glowing lines of various laws, appearing both awe-inspiring and mysterious. This multiverse portal was the crystallization of the Clock Tower’s core technology. Surrounding the portal were layers of space, each part of the Clock Tower. Unlike the mini-planet in the Hextech layer, these were primarily artificial structures configured as a platform rather than a sphere. They served as the portal’s primary guards, working as engineers for debugging and maintenance when no enemies were present.
Currently, the primary energy for both the portal and the war-star was derived from the conversion of ambient space energy; Yang Qiu merely supplemented the deficit.
Yang Qiu estimated that the recovery and growth rate of his psychic energy, bolstered by the strength gains following this script, could barely sustain the maintenance of these two energy-hungry giants. If he were to supply all their power, he would likely be burned out within days. Even now, merely covering the deficit was a significant burden. He still had to succeed the Ancient One as Earth’s supreme guardian; if he didn’t keep some reserves, it would be too late to prepare when the enemy arrived.
Therefore, further development could not rely solely on him, nor could it rely on the current state of Earth. This was a primary reason why he insisted on evolving the multiverse portal. This universe was far too crowded compared to the one from his past life. The fact that Earth was the only power in the Solar System was only because the system was nominally under Asgardian dominion; moving against it would be akin to declaring war on Asgard. Moreover, Earth’s current strength was insufficient for expansion. To say nothing else, the odds of winning against any civilization capable of interstellar travel would be terrifyingly low. Surely no one truly believed that a single nuclear bomb could destroy an entire galactic fleet.
Thus, if Yang Qiu wanted to lead the world of mystery and Earth toward further development, he had no choice but to seek solutions from other worlds. Naturally, it would be ideal if those worlds were weaker than his own, or at least evenly matched; worlds with superior power were best avoided. Most undesirable of all were worlds already targeted by some sinister force. If he encountered the latter, Earth might find itself becoming the prey instead of the hunter.
