Chapter 13: Not Even Jesus Could Save Him
“Of course, there are countless extraordinary people in this world, but you are certainly not one of them. And what exactly do you want? Did you come here just to spout this nonsense?”
“You simply don’t know what’s good for you!”
Lin Yu ignored Wang Jianshu’s threats and said flatly, “Let me tell you this: there are people in this world whom you cannot provoke, no matter how much power you wield.”
Wang Jianshu’s expression changed; he hadn’t expected Lin Yu to respond so brazenly. Fury burned within him, but he kept his composure on the surface.
“Who do you think you are? You’re nothing more than an unknown nobody.” Wang Jianshu sneered, “Let me make one thing clear: today, you must pay the price for what happened to my son!”
“The one who’ll be paying the price might be your Wang family instead,” Lin Yu’s eyes flashed coldly. “Don’t think that just because you have some influence you can do as you please. If you want a fight, then bring it on.”
Lin Yu’s words made Wang Jianshu’s face grow even more unsightly.
He had never imagined that this insignificant Lin Yu would dare to provoke him so boldly.
In his heart, he’d already made up his mind: no matter what, he would make Lin Yu suffer a terrible fate.
“Do you think I’m afraid of you?” Wang Jianshu sneered. “Let me tell you, the Wang family’s power in Jinling is far greater than you can imagine. Do you really think you can stand against me?”
“Whether I can or can’t, we’ll know soon enough,” Lin Yu replied with unwavering confidence.
Wang Jianshu was utterly enraged by Lin Yu’s attitude. He had decided to use every possible means to deal with Lin Yu, to make this arrogant young man kneel before him, begging for mercy.
He refused to believe that someone as insignificant as Lin Yu could possibly challenge a figure as formidable as himself, a man who could stir the winds and clouds in Jinling.
“Master Su, I wonder what your family’s stance is?” Wang Jianshu turned to Su Tianteng. “The Su and Wang families could cooperate even more deeply in business. If your family is willing to become in-laws with mine, all grievances can be set aside.”
His own son fancied Su Tianteng’s daughter—if the Su family knew what was good for them, stayed out of this, apologized, and obediently sent Su Ruoxi to his son’s bed, then everything could be easily resolved.
But if the Su family refused to be sensible, they couldn’t blame him for being ruthless; he would deal with Lin Yu and take down the Su family at the same time.
“Hey, you old beast, your beastly son doesn’t have many days left—why insist on ruining another family’s daughter? Should she be married to him just to be a widow?” Lin Yu couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
“You overestimate yourself, boy. I’ve already invited the most renowned doctors from Xia to treat my son. Such simple tricks hardly matter—do you think you can cause trouble?” Wang Jianshu glared furiously.
Clearly, the old beast had no idea what was really going on. Lin Yu wasn’t joking—when he said that Wang Wan would endure endless torment before dying, he meant it. Since last night, Wang Wan’s life had already begun its countdown.
This wasn’t arrogance on Lin Yu’s part, but absolute confidence in his own medical skill.
The same words as before:
Even if Jesus himself descended, he couldn’t save Wang Wan now—Lin Yu had said it.
“My advice: save what you can, whether it’s money or anything else. You’d best buy your beast of a son a coffin and a burial plot, so he can be laid to rest as soon as possible.”
This was not a threat, but Lin Yu’s heartfelt warning.
He knew exactly what he had done to Wang Wan. In seven days, when Wang Wan was writhing in agony, he would experience suffering worse than death. Even if someone else could prolong his life, he himself wouldn’t be able to endure such pain.
“Master Su, is this how your family treats its guests? Today I’m here for your family’s response,” Wang Jianshu turned from Lin Yu and looked to Su Tianteng.
“Lin Yu only harmed your son because your son tried to violate my daughter Ruoxi. He is a great benefactor to the Su family—how could we betray him?” Su Tianteng said coldly. “The Su family will stand with Lin Yu.”
Hearing this, Wang Jianshu’s expression grew even darker.
He hadn’t expected the Su family to be so blind to their own interests.
“If you oppose the Wang family, do you think your small Su family can bear the consequences? In Jinling, the Wang family’s influence is everywhere. If I want to erase your family, it’s as easy as turning my hand!”
“So what?” Su Tianteng showed no fear. “The Su family may not be as powerful as the Wang family in Jinling, but we are not soft persimmons to be squeezed at will! It won’t be so easy for you to lay hands on us!”
“If you insist on refusing a toast only to drink a forfeit, don’t blame me for being merciless!” Wang Jianshu was so angry he laughed. “I’d like to see how long your Su family’s bravado lasts today!”
With that, Wang Jianshu flung his sleeve, stood up, and prepared to leave.
“Wait, I advise you not to rush into revenge!” Lin Yu suddenly called out. “When you go back, don’t forget to spend more time with your son.”
Wang Jianshu stopped in his tracks and turned to look at Lin Yu, a vicious glint in his eyes.
“Oh?” Wang Jianshu sneered. “Just a minor trick. With the Wang family’s resources, finding a miracle doctor to cure my son is no trouble at all. You needn’t worry about us—focus instead on how you’ll protect yourself!”
“Here’s a friendly reminder: your son has only seven days left to live. In these seven days, I suggest you spend as much time with him as possible!”
“Seven days?” Wang Jianshu was taken aback. “What do you mean?”
“I’ve given your son seven days to experience every pain this world can offer,” Lin Yu said calmly. “If you want to find someone to treat him, you’d best hurry—otherwise, the pain that multiplies every day may be more than he can bear!”
“You think I’ll believe your nonsense?” Wang Jianshu scoffed. “There’s no need for your concern. The Wang family can summon miracle doctors from all over the world—if need be, even the immortals in heaven. Seven days is more than enough for my son to recover.”
“Oh? Then let’s hope the doctor you find can save him,” Lin Yu replied with a disdainful laugh.
Wang Jianshu ignored Lin Yu’s mockery and strode away. Though Lin Yu’s words gave him a slight sense of unease, when he thought of his family’s power, how could he take the words of an unknown nobody seriously?
After leaving the Su family estate, Wang Jianshu immediately set out for the hospital. Last night, he had already rushed Wang Wan to Jinling Hospital and summoned the most renowned doctors in Xia to come overnight; they should have arrived in Jinling by now.
Though there was some unease in his heart, Wang Jianshu quickly calmed himself.
He had weathered the storms of the business world for years, building the Wang family step by step into what it was today. How could he be intimidated by a single sentence from Lin Yu?
Once in the car, he instructed the driver to head straight to the hospital.
No matter how many affairs demanded his attention at the company, nothing took precedence over his son’s life. Wang Jianshu was very clear about his priorities.
