Chapter 84: The Real Show Has Yet to Begin
Could it be that everything this young man claiming to be Ye Tian said was true?! No, if he wasn’t lying, then the person standing before him was truly Ye Tian himself...
A chill surged up Wang Pangguo’s spine, making him shudder uncontrollably as he turned to meet Ye Tian’s indifferent gaze.
Wang Pangguo broke down instantly:
“Young Master Ye, you are magnanimous—please spare me!”
“I’m nothing but a blind fool, an ignorant worm, a useless glutton—I deserve to die for offending you, Young Master Ye...”
With each word, he slapped himself sharply across the face, over and over.
He might not fear others, but this Ye Tian—Wang Pangguo was genuinely terrified! Young Master Ye’s notorious reputation had already spread throughout the entire capital; they said he killed without batting an eye, that not even the law could restrain him, and that he killed whomever he wished!
To provoke him was no different from courting death!
Yet as he watched Wang Pangguo’s panicked display, Ye Tian was left utterly bewildered.
Did this old fool really think he intended to kill him?
At that thought, Ye Tian nearly laughed aloud.
“That’s enough. If you don’t shut up, I really will deal with you,” he said impatiently, giving Wang Pangguo a swift kick that sent him sprawling to the ground.
This fat fool was merely arrogant and mean-spirited—not enough to be called truly evil. At most, after settling accounts, he’d spend a few years in prison.
Besides, Ye Tian had no interest in taking on a murder charge.
Ever since inheriting Ye Changsheng’s memories, Ye Tian had grown increasingly cautious about cause and effect. Sometimes, a careless decision or a thoughtless word could, as time passed, snowball into disaster.
Murder, all the more so!
“Make a call. Tell someone in your family with real authority to come here—otherwise, I’ll give you a beating,” Ye Tian ordered the shivering Wang Pangguo.
“Yes, yes, I’ll call right away!”
As if granted amnesty, Wang Pangguo didn’t dare delay. He fished out his phone and dialed:
“Is this young Master Sun? Young Master Ye wants to see you—yes, right outside the gate.”
“Young Master Ye, our major shareholder will be here soon,” Wang Pangguo said anxiously after hanging up, glancing at Ye Tian with a pleading look.
“Fine. Go sit in the car and wait,” Ye Tian said, pointing to the car door.
Wang Pangguo obediently scampered to the car, even taking the initiative to fetch a pair of handcuffs and lock himself to the seat.
“Young Master Ye, I’ve cuffed myself. Waiting for you!” he called out.
Ye Tian: ...
Why did this guy’s words always sound so odd?
Soon, a young man in a tailored suit and gleaming leather shoes strode briskly out of the factory. At first glance, he seemed no older than twenty-five—perhaps even younger—but the arrogant, superior look in his eyes was deeply unpleasant.
“So you’re Ye Tian?” Sun Xian asked bluntly, sizing him up from head to toe.
“And you must be Sun Xian?” Ye Tian replied with a frown.
“Glad you recognize your elder. Aren’t you going to greet your grandpa?” Sun Xian sneered.
The security guards all sucked in a sharp breath. They thought, This President Sun really has guts, daring to insult Ye Tian like that. Isn’t he afraid Ye Tian will suddenly snap and kill him?
A hush fell over the crowd, but Sun Xian was unfazed. He glanced at Wang Pangguo, still sitting in the car, and barked, “You idiot! Get down here right now! Stop embarrassing yourself!”
Sun Xian spoke so boldly because he felt he had nothing to fear. If Ye Tian truly were a homicidal maniac, the Sun family would already have been wiped out. Clearly, Ye Tian was holding back for some reason.
Besides, many of the Ye family’s old retainers were in the factory, and others had been dispatched elsewhere on Ye Tian’s orders. If Ye Tian dared lay a finger on him, Sun Xian was certain those people would die a thousand times more miserably than he ever could!
Wang Pangguo merely stretched out his neck and replied, “President Sun, don’t worry about me. You’d best look out for yourself!”
Sun Xian couldn’t help but laugh in exasperation. “What a coward—scared witless by a single word!”
Still, he didn’t bother unlocking Wang Pangguo’s handcuffs. He had no intention of saving that lapdog.
It was all his fault for getting him chewed out by the clan leader!
Earlier, the clan leader had strictly forbidden any member of the Sun family or any subsidiary from getting into conflict with Ye Tian. They were to keep a low profile, above all.
Yet, somehow, Ye Tian ended up targeting him.
And that idiot Wang Pangguo had only made things worse by stirring up even more trouble!
Sun Xian seethed with anger, while Wang Pangguo, still sitting in the car, felt smug. After all, he hadn’t become a factory manager without a head on his shoulders. The conflict between Ye Tian and the Sun family was already irreconcilable, and it was clear the Sun family now couldn’t match Ye Tian.
As a mere pawn, whatever move he made would lead to his doom. Why not surrender early and protect himself?
“Sun Xian, that fool—still thinks he’s somebody!” Wang Pangguo mused inwardly. “If he weren’t born into the Sun family, he’d be no better off than I am!”
Just as tempers seemed about to boil over, Sun Xian suddenly stepped back and demanded of Ye Tian, “What are you doing here at my Xin Xin factory?”
“Don’t you know already?” Ye Tian replied coolly.
Director Zhang stepped forward and barked, producing a set of prepared documents: “We have received reports that Xin Xin Food Factory is using harmful raw materials. I am here to collect evidence—do not obstruct justice!”
The so-called informant, of course, was Aunt Liu.
“Oh, Director Zhang!” Sun Xian feigned surprise, flashing a false smile. “I didn’t expect you to have such a taste for meddling in others’ affairs.”
“If someone files a complaint against my food factory, shouldn’t it be the health department’s job to investigate?”
“As it happens, the health department head was just here. He’s still inside, having tea!”
Director Zhang froze.
It was true—although law enforcement had the right to investigate all illegal activities, such cases were typically handled by the legal representative, while factory inspections were left to the health department.
He could only approach Ye Tian and quietly explain, “Young Master Ye, the health department beat us to it. Now, black or white, truth or lies, it’s all in their hands. We won’t have a chance.”
“Speak freely,” Ye Tian replied.
Seeing Director Zhang’s crestfallen expression, Sun Xian was triumphant. “The health department has already inspected the factory and confirmed that all our production materials and safety facilities are up to code! No harmful materials were used!”
He pulled out a stack of documents, dropping them in front of Director Zhang. “If you don’t believe me, check the paperwork yourself.”
Director Zhang looked through the files. Sure enough, every page bore the health department’s stamp, each inspection item passed, and the time was half an hour before their arrival.
Director Zhang gritted his teeth. “Young Master Ye, let’s go!”
Sun Xian had seized the advantage. Their visit had been in vain.
“Leave? The show hasn’t even begun,” Ye Tian said mildly, his eyelids lifting ever so slightly.
