Chapter 80: Isn’t This Just Foolishness?
"Silence!"
The enforcer with a square face strode forward, towering over Ye Tian as he scrutinized him. With a pen clamped between his lips, he asked, “What’s your name?”
Ye Tian sneered at the question. “Turn on your law enforcement recorder first, then speak to me.”
“Oh?” The man burst out laughing in disbelief. He’d been an enforcer for over a decade and never expected someone to instruct him on how to do his job.
“What if I don’t? What will you do then? Call the police to arrest me?”
His words instantly provoked an uproar; dozens of security guards erupted into laughter.
“Haha, this guy’s got something wrong upstairs. The chief comes to arrest him, and he asks them to turn on the law enforcement recorder!”
“Isn't he a fool?”
“Heh.”
Faced with the tidal wave of ridicule, Ye Tian remained indifferent. “If you won’t turn it on, I have other ways to deal with you.”
The next moment, he moved with ghostly speed, appearing before the captain and snatching away his law enforcement recorder, then tossed it to the ground and stomped it to pieces.
“Without evidence, even if I beat you to death, what could you do?”
Cold sweat broke out on the back of the square-faced man.
He’d never seen such swift movement; he couldn’t even see when Ye Tian made his move!
He’d encountered a tough one this time…
“Turn on your cameras, all of you!” he shouted.
At his command, the enforcers behind him immediately activated their recorders, pointing the cameras at Ye Tian.
“Good. Now, answer my questions honestly!” Wiping the sweat from his brow, the captain tried to sound fierce, though his bravado was hollow. “Name, age!”
“Ye Tian.”
“Damn, Ye Tian!”
The name stunned all the enforcers, and they stared at him in disbelief.
“You’re that Ye Tian from Zhongdu—the young master!”
Everyone was shaken.
If he really was Ye Tian, this matter would be out of the enforcers’ jurisdiction; how to handle it would be up to the higher-ups in Zhongdu.
Anyone who followed the news knew Ye Tian had repeatedly erupted in violence. By Dragon Nation law, he could have been executed a thousand times over.
But his identity was special…
Recently, this man had charged into the emergency room under a cloud of wanted notices and saved General Tang Zhanguo of the Northern Expedition!
Thus, the original warrant was revoked. The old general even announced publicly that Ye Tian was his savior and vowed to repay him personally!
In other words, with Ye Tian’s current status, as long as he didn’t go too far—even if he killed a few ordinary people—no one could arrest him!
Terrifying!
The captain’s heart pounded in panic.
“Cousin, you believe that?” At this moment, Wang Pangguo stepped forward, pointing at Ye Tian’s nose with contempt.
“The news said long ago that Ye Tian was taken to the Tang family mansion for treatment. He’s probably still in the capital and hasn’t returned!”
“This guy’s just scared of being caught, so he’s pretending to be someone famous to frighten you!”
The square-faced captain brightened at Wang’s words, his gloom vanishing.
Yes, if he really were Ye Tian, he’d be busy tending to Tang Zhanguo, not here causing trouble!
He grinned and scoffed, “You’re Ye Tian? Then I must be Cao Cao reborn. Someone, take him back!”
As the enforcers closed in to restrain Ye Tian, he took out his phone.
“I’ll make a call. You can talk to the person on the other end and see if you still want to arrest me.”
“Oh, making a call? Trying to call reinforcements?”
The crowd erupted again in loud, reckless laughter.
“If you can get Tang Zhanguo here, we’ll believe you’re Ye Tian.”
Another round of exaggerated laughter.
Yet, the call went through. After the beeping tone, a man’s voice answered.
“Is there something you need?”
It was Tang Long’s weary voice; he’d been overloaded with missions lately but dared not neglect Ye Tian’s call.
Ye Tian didn’t respond but handed the phone to the square-faced captain.
“Someone here says they want to arrest me. You talk to him.”
“What am I supposed to say?” The captain looked puzzled, but a voice came through the speaker: “Hello, may I ask who you are?”
Is this guy an idiot?
The captain cursed into the phone, “I’m your father, who do you think I am?”
“Oh, really!” Tang Long’s voice was incredulous, instantly annoyed. “Which unit are you from, talking to me like that!”
“Let me tell you, with that attitude, tomorrow I’ll have you out of a job!”
“Well, so you’re an officer! Such impressive speech!” The captain laughed. “I’m Wang Jianguo, captain of the Central City Second Squad. What are you going to do, bite me?”
Wang Jianguo snickered.
He’d worked in the enforcement squad for over ten years and never met anyone so bold.
“Central City Second Squad captain, Wang Jianguo, right?”
Tang Long’s anger flared, his tone sharp. “Call your station chief now and tell him Tang Long will come for tea tonight at eight.”
“And you’d better hurry back. If you piss off Young Master Ye, don’t blame me for not saving your life in the afterlife!”
Despite his anger, Tang Long was efficient.
His foremost worry wasn’t Ye Tian, but Wang Jianguo’s safety.
After all, the man before him was Ye Tian—a Beidou-class martial artist. If he killed a few people, the Zhongdu higher-ups would turn a blind eye.
To the powerful, such talents were meant to be recruited, not confronted.
Moreover, with his adoptive father’s protection, Ye Tian practically held a license to kill—nothing barred him.
So, to avoid bloodshed, Tang Long kindly warned the captain.
“Hahahahaha!”
Unexpectedly, the captain clutched his belly and burst into laughter.
“You two make a pretty good act! One’s Tang Long, the other’s Ye Tian!”
“How about this? Actually, I’m Tang Zhanguo. Why don’t you call me ‘father’ and see how it sounds?”
“Maybe if you please me, you’ll get beaten less when you’re taken in.”
“You’re courting death!”
Tang Long was livid.
He wanted to rush to the scene immediately, but his adoptive father was at a critical stage of medication and needed supervision at Jingxin Manor.
“Give the phone to Young Master Ye. I’ll speak to him!”
“Speak to your sister, you idiot!” Wang Jianguo sneered and hung up.
“Come on, grab him.”
He waved his hand impatiently.
He was amused.
Today was interesting—out to catch a gang of petty thieves, and he met ‘Ye Tian’!
Even more unbelievable, he had the honor of calling General Tang Long. Amazing.
“Master, should we act?” Zhu Yun’er, seeing Wang Jianguo’s stubbornness, couldn’t help but ask.
