Chapter 31: I Am Here to See Young Master Ye
“Oh, my dear nephew, I want an autograph too,” Yin Huijuan said, raising her hand with a shy expression.
She was fond of Yang Yiqiu as well—her singing was beautiful and her demeanor sweet—but this young woman was simply too aloof. Aside from her own concerts, she rarely accepted commercial gigs. No matter how much she was invited, she wouldn’t budge, let alone sign anything.
“No problem, I’ll go right now,” Chen Mufeng said, preparing to stand, when he suddenly noticed Yang Yiqiu, who had been sitting quietly, turn her head toward them.
“Is she looking at us?”
“It seems so.”
Yang Yiqiu, over in the living room, stared in their direction for a while, then broke into a brilliant smile and waved. Chen Mufeng was both astonished and delighted, hurriedly waving back to her.
Heavens!
This was the diva, the queen, with over a hundred million fans across the Dragon Nation, and she was waving at him!
“Mufeng, look, the queen is greeting you,” Li’s mother exclaimed in surprise, then cast a disdainful glance at Ye Tian, mocking him, “Look at Mufeng—even Yang Yiqiu, the diva, greets him proactively. Unlike some people, shamelessly scheming to climb up by relying on women.”
“Well, whatever makes you happy,” Ye Tian thought silently, already aware that the Li family matriarch was a snob, but he hadn’t expected her to be so sharp-tongued as well. Still, considering she was Li Muqing’s biological mother, he restrained himself.
As they were speaking, Yang Yiqiu rose from the living room and headed directly toward Ye Tian’s table.
“What’s going on? Is the diva coming over?” Chen Mufeng looked around, realizing theirs was the only table nearby, his expression a mix of excitement and disbelief.
Soon enough, the tall, ponytailed beauty crossed the crowd and arrived before them.
“Hello.”
“Hello, hello!” Chen Mufeng was overjoyed. He had never dared imagine that one day the dignified diva would come over to greet him in person, and so warmly!
This was Yang Yiqiu, whose albums could sell over three million copies, netting billions in profits—a true superstar in the Dragon Nation!
Without waiting for a word, Chen Mufeng eagerly reached forward, grasping Yang Yiqiu’s hands. “Miss Yang, it’s been so long! I can’t believe you still remember me.”
Yang Yiqiu gave an awkward smile. “Sorry, I don’t recall you. Who are you?”
“Huh?”
Chen Mufeng was stunned.
She wasn’t here for him?
Yin Huijuan was equally bewildered.
“Miss Yang, aren’t you here for Mufeng? He’s Chen Mufeng from the Chen family—you worked together before,” Yin Huijuan prompted, seeing Chen Mufeng’s embarrassment.
“Sorry, I truly don’t know him. I’m here to see Master Ye,” Yang Yiqiu replied, smiling with graceful awkwardness as she gently freed her hand from Chen Mufeng’s grip.
“Master Ye, it’s been years. You’re still the same,” she said.
The words sent shockwaves through the Li family women and Chen Mufeng.
The diva had come for Ye Tian?!
How was that possible?
The Ye family had once been illustrious in Zhongdu, but those days were long past. Now Ye Tian was a penniless orphan, bereft of any support.
Why would the queen herself stoop to converse with such a fallen man?
Chen Mufeng even rubbed his eyes, wondering if he was still dreaming.
“Mm,” Ye Tian, surprised to be greeted, nodded, “You’ve changed quite a bit—much more outgoing than before.”
Yang Yiqiu blushed shyly. “I’m amazed you still remember me. If not for those years, I wouldn’t even know where I’d be today.”
“That’s because you were extraordinary,” Ye Tian replied honestly. Back then, he had chosen Yang Yiqiu as a spokesperson precisely because her image and voice were outstanding. It was not so much a favor as a business decision.
Yang Yiqiu smiled gracefully, letting the past go, then invited him, “Master Ye, if you don’t mind, would you join me for a chat in the corner?”
“No, I’m here to dine with friends today. Perhaps another time,” Ye Tian replied.
What!
Chen Mufeng, Yin Huijuan, and even Li Muqing were struck dumb with shock.
Ye Tian had refused the queen’s invitation without hesitation!
Chen Mufeng’s mind buzzed; his heart seemed to bleed.
Such a golden opportunity—couldn’t it be given to him? He would gladly accept! Yang Yiqiu, I would!
He screamed inwardly.
All the scions of Zhongdu shared one ultimate dream: to marry Yang Yiqiu!
The opportunity that countless young men yearned for was tossed aside by Ye Tian with a single sentence!
It was absurdity upon absurdity, beyond belief!
And in the next moment, Chen Mufeng’s world shattered again.
Yang Yiqiu took out her phone and said to Ye Tian,
“Well, let’s exchange contact details. If you have time, just reach out.”
Heavens above!
Rejected, the goddess was still persistent, insisting on getting Ye Tian’s WeChat!
Chen Mufeng’s heart bled, his mind numb. The famously aloof goddess, who never added anyone, was acting like a lovesick puppy before Ye Tian!
“Alright,” Ye Tian replied, pulling out his phone so she could scan his code, then asked, “Aren’t you a singer? What brings you here today?”
He pointed at the array of cameras and staff.
It seemed she wasn’t here for a private meal.
Yang Yiqiu explained, “I’m working on a personal food exploration show. I heard this newly opened Japanese restaurant is authentic, so I came to shoot some material.”
“I’d advise against filming,” Ye Tian said.
“Why?”
“You’ll get an upset stomach after eating.”
Yang Yiqiu’s eyes widened in surprise as she looked at the dishes already being served in the hall.
She pouted playfully. “If I run now, will I make it?”
“Of course.”
“Alright, then. Until next time, Master Ye.” Yang Yiqiu waved at him. “You’ve been in the news a lot lately—even hotter than I am in Zhongdu!”
With that, she turned and left.
Ye Tian thought she was joking, but in the next moment, Yang Yiqiu and her filming crew paid their bill and vanished without a word, leaving the chefs bewildered as they continued to bring out dishes.
“Goodness, how do you know the queen Yang?” Li Muqing, who had been holding back, finally couldn’t resist, tugging at Ye Tian with curiosity.
Yin Huijuan watched him expectantly, equally eager for an answer.
“Heh, just old friends,” Ye Tian replied with a sigh, shaking his head, then waved his hand, “Enjoy your meal, everyone. I’ll take my leave.”
Li’s mother’s words had triggered something in him.
At this moment, he had no desire to play along anymore.
“I’ll see you out!”
Li Muqing followed him, leaving Chen Mufeng and Yin Huijuan behind.
