“What could possibly be so important?”
“The Yang family of Phoenix City in Xiangxi has never had anything to do with our Ye family. They’re calling now for no other reason than to try to get a hand in one of our projects.”
“Tell them all our construction teams are already booked. We don’t need any subcontractors!”
“That’s not it, miss. They insist it’s an important matter and demand to speak directly with the person in charge of the Ye family!”
Only then did Gu Qing’er click her tongue impatiently and take the phone.
“Hello. What is it?”
A timid girl’s voice came from the other end.
“Hello. May I ask what your relationship is with Ye Tian?”
“I’m the one asking what your relationship with Ye Tian is! You called me, so why are you turning around and asking me?”
Hearing that coy, affected voice, Gu Qing’er grew even more furious.
That bastard Ye Tian really had been fooling around with women outside again!
She had not expected that man’s tastes to be so peculiar. He would even go after a sweet-faced schemer like this.
“Please don’t misunderstand!” Yang Xiaoyan timidly explained. “I only wanted to confirm whether you’re truly a member of Brother Ye Tian’s family. Something happened to him here.”

Gu Qing’er’s face was full of disdain. “That man is practically invincible. He could swagger across the Dragon Nation and no one would dare stop him.”
“No, wait—can you please let me finish speaking!”
Yang Xiaoyan finally lost control of her emotions and screamed in despair, “Brother Ye Tian failed his heavenly tribulation in Phoenix City! His body and spirit have already perished!”
“I know you’re someone close to him. I’m calling only to inform you. Please send people here immediately and bring his remains back to Zhongdu!”
What heavenly tribulation? What body and spirit perishing?
Who did she think she was fooling?
Gu Qing’er was utterly bewildered. This girl sounded as though she were telling a story from some fantasy novel.
“I truly am not lying to you. If you don’t believe me, send two trusted people to Phoenix City and you’ll know.” With that, Yang Xiaoyan angrily hung up.
“How absurd.”
Gu Qing’er paid the matter no heed. Since the other party had stopped pestering her, she saw no reason to dwell on it.
She was busy enough as it was. She had a mountain of work to finish and no time to indulge some young girl’s wild story.
Just then, Gu Qingcheng walked over.
“Well, little Qing’er, why haven’t you gone to eat yet?”
“A young girl just called me and spun an entire load of nonsense.” Gu Qing’er helplessly explained, “She said Ye Tian failed his heavenly tribulation and that his body and spirit had perished.”
“What nonsense! What era are we living in? She doesn’t even know how to lie convincingly!”
“Wait!”
Gu Qingcheng’s face went deathly white. She staggered backward three steps and collapsed onto the floor.
“You said my junior brother failed his heavenly tribulation?”
Gu Qing’er stared at her in confusion.
“You actually believe that nonsense?”
“What do you know? My junior brother entered the Void-Transcending Realm long ago. He was already close to breaking through into the Dao-Unification Realm and undergoing the tribulation!”
“That person was not lying!”
Gu Qingcheng’s eyes were filled with despair.
Only then did Gu Qing’er realize how serious the matter was.
Though this senior sister was eccentric, she had never been one to joke carelessly—especially not about anything involving Ye Tian.

Inside a villa, Renata sat bolt upright, her face alight with excitement.
An informant she had placed within the Ye family had called to tell her that Ye Tian was dead.
Renata was the Dragon Nation regional director of the Alliance of Supernatural Ability Users. A few days earlier, she had represented the alliance and joined the Aceves family and the Beautiful Nation Embassy in confronting Ye Tian.
Yet they had gone there full of fury and returned utterly humiliated.
First, a Martial King had stepped forward to protect him. Then he had been personally appointed a major general.
In the end, he had even killed a number of their allies right in front of them.
The Aceves family and the embassy had subsequently been thoroughly investigated by the Dragon Group on suspicion of colluding to incite rebellion, and were now barely able to protect themselves.
As for the Alliance of Supernatural Ability Users, they had escaped accountability only because they had not participated directly and possessed considerable backing.
Even so, their situation was far from good.
The alliance’s credibility in the Dragon Nation had plummeted, and many of its affairs had become nearly impossible to conduct.
The Dragon Nation’s people were so brazenly protective of their own, their arrogance enough to make one grind one’s teeth in anger!
And after having to clean up the mess left by their two allied factions, Renata had not enjoyed a single good night’s sleep over the past few days.
Now that she had learned of Ye Tian’s sudden death, she was so delighted she nearly jumped for joy.
That little bastard was the reason she had suffered so much.
Ye Tian deserved to die!
“Ye Tian is dead! This is wonderful news—truly cause for celebration!”
“I’m going to pass the news on to Mr. Aceves!”
Renata hung up and immediately used the landline to dial an overseas number.
“Hello, is this Mr. Lucas Aceves? This is Renata!”
“I have wonderful news for you. Ye Tian is dead!”
“What? Ye Tian is dead?”
A low male voice came from the other end.
“What a pity that I couldn’t kill him with my own hands. He murdered three of my sons. I should have been the one to avenge them and settle the score!”
Lucas ground his teeth in rage.
“But it doesn’t matter. I’ve already reached the border of the Dragon Nation. I’ll be landing in three hours. When I arrive, you’ll come with me.”
“Even if I can’t kill him myself, I’ll go to the Ye family and humiliate his corpse thoroughly. I’ll grind his bones to dust!”
“Understood. I’ll leave at once and meet you at the airport!”
Renata was overjoyed. With the source of all this trouble, Ye Tian, now dead, the Dragon Nation court would have no key witness present to testify against them.
And with the head of the Aceves family personally entering the fray, they might still have a chance to turn the tables.
