Chapter 121: Another Romantic Entanglement
Ye Tian was startled. He had not expected Old Second Yang to be telling the truth. Every member of the Yang family, it seemed, was an inner-alchemy cultivator.
Could everything be connected to that mysterious spirit spring?
His mind raced, but he did not stand idle. While Yang Su had lost the ability to resist, Ye Tian tightened his grip, squeezing the old woman until she shrieked.
Then he forcibly twisted her wrist around.
There, in the palm of her hand, was another paper figure, identical to the one from before.
“So it really was you!”
Yang Yan flew into a rage and lunged forward to seize the Fairy Granny by the throat, only to have a cloud of white powder flung into his eyes.
The old woman reacted instantly. Her arm seemed to have been coated in oil, and with a sudden slip, it slid free of Ye Tian’s grasp.
“How clever!”
Instead of being alarmed by her escape, Ye Tian laughed. He immediately drove his fist into the wooden wall. The entire wooden room collapsed halfway in an instant, and through the gaping hole he saw the scene outside.
The Fairy Granny had already leaped down from the stronghold and was running away with her case.
In the span of only two breaths, she had covered dozens, perhaps even hundreds, of meters.
“Mr. Ye, she’s getting away!”
Having understood everything, Yang Yan was both furious and anxious. He wiped the powder from the corners of his eyes and was about to give chase, but Ye Tian stopped him with one hand.
“Don’t worry. She won’t get away.”
As he spoke, a wisp of black energy slowly drifted from his palm before dispersing into the air.
A moment later, the distant figure of the Fairy Granny pitched forward and fell flat on the ground. She could no longer move.
“I spent some time refining that black energy just now. Using it against its own master is the most suitable application imaginable.”
Ye Tian spoke with calm indifference.
Yang Yan was overwhelmed with emotion. Tears streamed down his face, and before he knew it, he had dropped to his knees.
“Divine Physician, please accept my deepest respects!”
“You deserved it,” Ye Tian scolded irritably. “No matter how carefully one guards against outsiders, one can never guard against a thief within the family. The true culprit behind your father’s suffering should be the man beside you.”
As he spoke, he pointed at Yang Su.
“Your reprimand is entirely justified!”
Yang Yan glanced at Yang Su, whose face had turned the color of pig liver and who was in such agony that he could not even speak. He was instantly too enraged for words.
“You beast!”
With a savage expression, he kicked Yang Su in the chest, sending him sprawling. Then he pummeled the man’s broad, pancake-like face with one fist after another.
“Heh heh. I’m a beast?”
Yang Su had finally recovered enough to speak after the pressure-point attack, but he showed no remorse whatsoever. Instead, his face was filled with fury.
“Every time I went out to do business, wasn’t it for the good of the family? Phoenix City has been isolated and impoverished for so many years. If I hadn’t negotiated with the businessmen from Ji City, built roads, and developed tourism, would this wretched place have become as prosperous as it is today?”
“It’s only one mountain behind us. What’s wrong with leasing it out? That’s three hundred billion we’re talking about!”
“One mountain in exchange for three hundred billion in cash—how could that not be worth it?”
“That old fool rejected the proposal every single time at the family meetings, as though the mountain belonged to him alone.”
“He was completely incapable of recognizing a good opportunity. It’s no great loss that he died!”
...
Watching him rant and rave, Ye Tian could not help shaking his head.
What an idiot.
For the sake of a little immediate profit, he had been willing to betray and harm his own father. And even now, he still believed he had done nothing wrong.
“Why, you...”
The more Yang Yan listened, the angrier he became, but his fists could no longer continue. In the end, he kicked his younger brother aside, then sat down bitterly and sighed.
“If anyone is to blame, blame our father for indulging you too much back then. That’s what turned you into this.”
Yang Yan sighed again.
“You knew perfectly well that the mountain behind us is the source of the spirit spring, the most important treasure our family possesses.”
“Forget three hundred billion—even three trillion, or thirty trillion, would never be enough to sell it!”
The spirit spring. Again, the spirit spring.
Ye Tian was amazed to discover that ever since arriving here, it seemed that everything was connected to that spring.
What exactly was so precious about it?
“What do you know?” the fat man roared. “They’re only leasing it! Leasing it! The spirit spring will remain there all along. Once the five-year lease expires, our family can continue using it just as before!”
“You’re exactly like that old fool—completely incapable of adapting.” Yang Su wanted to say more, but suddenly found it increasingly difficult to breathe.
His internal energy had been thrown into complete disarray.
The place Yang Yan had struck moments ago was the Breast Center point, one of the thirty-six fatal pressure points.
The pressure-point technique was gradually taking effect. If it was not undone, Yang Su would die on the spot.
The energy throughout his body had already begun to disperse, and various symptoms were surfacing. His labored breathing was the most obvious sign.
Before long, he would lose the ability to breathe altogether and die of suffocation.
“Brother! Brother!”
“Don’t argue about right and wrong yet. Remove the pressure-point seal first!”
Panic filled Yang Su’s face. Using all his remaining strength, he crawled to his elder brother’s feet and clung tightly to his legs.
“Brother, we’re brothers! You can’t be so cruel to me!”
“Hmph. Brothers?”
Yang Xiaoyan, who had been standing at the side watching the spectacle, let out a cold laugh.
After experiencing so much in such a short time, her state of mind had undergone a complete transformation.
At first, she had been shocked and bewildered. In the end, she had accepted the truth.
Her uncle’s motive for harming her grandfather had been absurdly petty.
Simply because they disagreed, he had tried to destroy his own biological father.
And now that misfortune had befallen him, he had the shamelessness to beg for mercy by invoking brotherly affection, despite everything he had done.
It was utterly disgusting.
“Yes, brothers...”
Looking at Yang Su, who was desperately pleading on the ground yet still showed no remorse and had not offered even a single apology, Yang Yan could only laugh bitterly inside.
The boy had been ruined beyond saving.
“Enough. Then I’ll settle your account with our father.”
He raised his palm and pressed it against his younger brother’s crown.
“No, Brother! You can’t kill me! I’m your brother!”
The fat man writhed feebly on the ground. He tried to admit his mistakes, but discovered that he could no longer speak.
In the end, only a hoarse, rasping croak escaped his throat.
Yang Yan closed his eyes and brought his palm down with tremendous force.
Blood burst from all seven openings of the man’s head. His massive body went limp, and he fell completely silent.
“Mr. Ye,” Yang Yan said, forcing himself to endure the pain, “I’ll take you to the mountain behind us now so you can soak in the spirit spring.”
“Hm?”
Seeing how suddenly urgent he had become, Ye Tian could not help feeling surprised.
“Shouldn’t we wait for the old man to wake up first?”
“There’s no need. I know a little about observing vital energy. I can clearly sense that my father’s aura is much stronger than before.”
“At this rate, he’ll wake up within half an hour at most.”
“That’s wonderful!”
Yang Xiaoyan jumped for joy. She bounded over to Ye Tian and planted an unexpected kiss on his cheek.
“Thank you, Big Brother Ye Tian! From now on, you’re my real brother!”
“Well, damn...”
Caught off guard, Ye Tian wore an awkward expression, and his mood did not improve in the slightest.
Good heavens. I may be outstanding, but please stop sending romantic entanglements my way!
