Chapter 141: Gu Shiyan Had Long Since Abandoned All Shame

Luo Zhou remained silent, gazing out the window as the wind whipped the branches into a wild frenzy. He sighed. “Dad has already taken leave and is on his way. You can tell him when he gets here.”
Luo Xing knew that meant her brother had agreed.
Gu Shiyan stayed at the hospital for two whole days. Luo Xingqi arrived on the second.
When Luo Xing saw her father, she said nothing. Instead, she left the room to the two of them.
Standing outside the ward, Luo Xing caught a glimpse of what was happening through the small glass window. Luo Xingqi brushed the hair from the person lying on the bed, a trace of tears hidden in his eyes.
Gu Shiyan stood beside Luo Xing, his palm resting on her shoulder. “Want me to come with you?”
She looked up at him and gave a calm, faint smile. “I imagine he’ll want to speak with you alone. Just tell him the truth when the time comes.”
It was a long while before Luo Xingqi came out. He looked at the two of them, entirely unsurprised.
“Let’s go.”
The two of them went out to speak privately, while Gu Shiyan stayed behind to take care of things.
Luo Xing’s guess had been right. After telling her father everything, Luo Xingqi asked to speak with Gu Shiyan alone.
“Dad, am I being too willful?” Luo Xing looked up at him.
Throughout their conversation, Luo Xingqi remained gentle, though he occasionally drew his brows together.
“You should have a little more confidence in yourself. From the time you were little until now, when have you ever not been willful?” Luo Xingqi smiled. “If you suddenly stopped being willful, I would start wondering whether someone had bullied my daughter.”
A smile brightened Luo Xing’s eyes. “Even though I’ve decided to be willful, I’ll still do my best along the way.”
She took a sip of her drink. “Isn’t there a saying? Once you choose a road, no matter how difficult it is, you have to grit your teeth and keep walking.”
“You have us. You don’t need to grit your teeth.” Luo Xingqi patted her hand. “Go back and bring that boy to see me.”
Luo Xing had no idea what the two men discussed. They did not return until nightfall. The group ate a meal together, after which Luo Xing accompanied Gu Shiyan to the airport.
Gu Shiyan had brought no clothes with him. What he wore had been bought hastily outside the hospital and was utterly unlike his usual style.
His blue-and-white checked shirt softened the wild, sharp edge about him. Strands of hair fell across his brows and eyes. When the wind lifted them, his forehead and features were revealed, creating a breathtakingly striking effect.
Luo Xing looked at him. Compared with their first meeting in her memory, he seemed not to have changed at all.
Only now, his eyes held a tenderness that reflected her.
“What are you smiling at?” Gu Shiyan asked.
“At you.”
Gu Shiyan lowered his gaze to the painfully unfashionable clothes he was wearing and said helplessly, “This was the only one I could stand looking at.”

Gu Shiyan suddenly regretted not bringing some clothes with him.
Luo Xing pouted, not telling him that this was not what she had been laughing at.
“Message me when Aunt Jiang wakes up.” Gu Shiyan embraced her.
“All right.” Luo Xing hugged him back lightly and was about to pull away when he held her in place.
She heard him laugh softly beside her ear. His warm breath brushed the back of her ear, and she shifted slightly, feeling a little ticklish.
“Where would you like to go this time next year?” Gu Shiyan asked out of nowhere.
“To see you,” Luo Xing replied directly. “When my flight lands, you have to be the first person to come see me.”
“And after you see me?”
“Hmm...” Luo Xing thought seriously for a moment. “Eat.”
Gu Shiyan’s hand, resting against the small of her back, tightened slightly.
“Why did you pinch me?” Luo Xing pinched him in return.
“Do you like Helsinki? Shall we go there together then?”
Luo Xing looked up. “How did you know...?”
She thought carefully. She had never mentioned it in front of him.
Gu Shiyan froze as well. He cleared his throat. “I visited First High School before coming here.”
“You...”
Luo Xing searched her memory for a long time before finally remembering that she had once written it on First High School’s wish wall.
At the time, she had apparently been watching a film set in Helsinki, so she had written it down.
Even on that bright, public wish wall, Luo Xing had not dared write down what she truly wanted.
She remembered writing it beneath her desk instead.
She looked at Gu Shiyan, certain that he could not possibly have seen it. After all, he had never noticed her. The fact that he could find her old seat after all these years was impressive enough.
Gu Shiyan gently rubbed her hair. His low voice was so soft that only the two of them could hear it.
“Love at first sight.”
Luo Xing’s eyes flew open. Rather than the embarrassment of having her secret uncovered and teased, confusion came first.
“H-How did you know where my seat was?”
The two of them drew apart briefly. The lowered corners of Gu Shiyan’s eyes curved upward, and his tone was lazily teasing.
“What? You were allowed to secretly watch me, but I wasn’t allowed to pay attention to you?”
“Tell me!”
“Wow, you’re awfully domineering.” Gu Shiyan drawled, deliberately dragging it out.
“I’m leaving. Take your time waiting.”

Gu Shiyan’s arms were still around Luo Xing’s waist. Almost the moment she turned around, he tightened his hold and pulled her into his arms.
“You really want to know?”
“You’re taking forever,” Luo Xing muttered.
Gu Shiyan eased back a little and held her lazily. With one hand, he casually pinched her cheek, his tone carrying a hint of flirtation.
“You asked.”
Luo Xing nodded.
Gu Shiyan covered her ear with his palm, leaned close, and whispered a few words.
Luo Xing kicked him. “You people! That’s too much. You even gave me a nickname...”
Luo Xing had always loved dozing off in class, a bad habit she had never managed to break since elementary school.
She had never imagined that the little bun she casually tied her hair into every day had become a source of amusement for people behind her back.
Gu Shiyan glanced at her. “Someone else came up with it.”
Luo Xing insisted, “You were helping the bully.”
There were quite a few people passing through the airport. Realizing that she had spoken too loudly, Luo Xing covered her mouth and gave a little huff.
“I’ll have to think of a nickname for you too.”
Gu Shiyan’s tone was lazy as he watched her roving eyes, a reckless smile curving across his lips.
“A nickname?”
Luo Xing was still thinking and did not answer him.
“Baby?”
His face suddenly drew close, stirring a faint breeze. His low murmur sent ripples through her heart.
“Or darling... beloved? Which do you prefer?”
Luo Xing paused briefly and pressed her lips together. “Gu Shiyan, you have no shame.”
His voice held a faint, aggrieved note. “I lost my shame a long time ago.”
Then he added, wickedly, “I could lose even more. Want to try, baby?”
Luo Xing glared at him in annoyance. “I...”
Gu Shiyan pulled her close and lowered his head to kiss her.
Luo Xing gripped the edge of his shirt, thinking that although it was painfully unfashionable, the fabric felt rather comfortable.
Gu Shiyan’s eyes were half-open as he carefully and intently watched her trembling lashes.
When they parted, his fingertip still rested against Luo Xing’s cheek. Her smooth, jade-like face was flushed, and a trace of irritation lingered between her brows.
His narrow, dark eyes lowered, and he returned to the obedient gentleness he had shown before.
“I’m sorry.”
