Comparing Gu Shiyan’s attire with Luo Xing’s, one exuded a casual yet noble quality, while the other was completely casual. Luo Xing ignored the glances around and looked at Gu Shiyan with a complicated expression.

She hadn’t said anything yet.

Gu Shiyan went up first; now that people were gathered outside, she couldn’t just let him go down directly.

“What’s with such a big bag?” Luo Xing stared at the bag in his hand.

“There’s seafood congee, cheese-baked lobster, and red ginseng inside,” Gu Shiyan’s voice was slightly hoarse.

Luo Xing recalled that he had come to see her yesterday wearing just a sweater.

“Are you sick?” she asked.

Gu Shiyan paused briefly; a trace of softness appeared in his narrowed eyes.

“A little, but it’s nothing.”

Hearing this, Luo Xing frowned but didn’t say much more.

“We’re here.”

Gu Shiyan escorted Luo Xing out of the elevator.

“Is anyone home?” Gu Shiyan asked.

“They’ve all gone out,” Luo Xing replied casually.

Only then did she realize what he meant by that.

Gu Shiyan stood before her, their eyes meeting, both understanding the unspoken meaning: “After you finish eating, I can conveniently take away the trash.”

It was as if he was recommending himself to Luo Xing.

She lowered her eyes. “There aren’t many spare shoes at home.”

“Barefoot is fine.”

“...”

Luo Xing opened the door, and Gu Shiyan followed her inside.

Gu Shiyan showed no restraint as he placed the insulated bag on the table. “This should be eaten while it’s hot. Come on.”

Luo Xing looked at him; he was holding a pair of neatly wrapped chopsticks.

They weren’t disposable ones, which made her suspect the origin of this breakfast. “Where did you buy this?”

Gu Shiyan arranged the small bowls and chopsticks neatly. “The chef at home happened to make it, so I brought it for you.”

Luo Xing sat down and opened the lunch boxes, immediately smelling a tempting fragrance she couldn’t ignore.

“It smells so good,” Luo Xing said, swallowing her saliva as she looked at the seafood congee.

Gu Shiyan opened another portion—two bowls in total—placing one in front of Luo Xing and the other before himself.

Luo Xing paused. “What are you doing?”

“Having breakfast.”

Gu Shiyan’s gaze was candid. If Luo Xing hadn’t known this was her own home, she might have thought he was the guest.

“Aren’t you here to deliver breakfast to me?” Luo Xing asked.

“I haven’t eaten either. I don’t mind eating with you, do you?”

Indeed...

Seeing that he had prepared chopsticks and dishes for her, Luo Xing didn’t stop him.

The two ate quietly, only the occasional sound of swallowing breaking the silence.

Gu Shiyan ate quietly, hardly speaking, but often glanced at Luo Xing, seemingly attentive to her expression.

“Is it not hot enough?” Gu Shiyan asked softly.

Luo Xing’s eyelashes flickered as she shook her head. “Just right.”

She felt Gu Shiyan was different today.

Before, he was like the winter sun—bright enough but without warmth.

Now, he had warmth.

Gu Shiyan ate about half a bowl before stopping.

Luo Xing, however, finished her entire bowl and looked up to see Gu Shiyan focused on what he was doing. His long, well-defined fingers held chopsticks with precision, dividing the cheese-baked lobster and placing it onto a small dish.

He pushed it toward Luo Xing.

“Does it have to be so delicate?” Luo Xing murmured.

Gu Shiyan took it seriously. “Don’t like it? Then next time I’ll just put the whole plate in front of you.”

If Luo Xing hadn’t seen the sincerity in his eyes, she might have thought he was mocking her.

Some people are just born unsuited to pleasing others.

Luo Xing understood his meaning.

“Is it good?” Gu Shiyan asked, watching her bring the shrimp to her mouth and waiting for her to swallow before asking again.

“Not bad.” It was actually delicious, but Luo Xing didn’t want to show it.

She spoke lightly.

Gu Shiyan picked up his chopsticks to feed her again. “Here.”

Luo Xing felt uncomfortable. “I can manage myself. Just put it there.”

Gu Shiyan’s hand paused. “Don’t you like me feeding you...?”

Luo Xing pressed her lips together. “No.”

“Then you don’t like me?”

Gu Shiyan’s words came slowly, as if probing.

Luo Xing put down her chopsticks, finally unable to hold back. “Who did you learn this from?”

“Didn’t you say last night to let you think it over slowly? Why are you so anxious now?”

Luo Xing’s voice was low but clearly angry.

Gu Shiyan nodded. “Okay.”

He put down his chopsticks and stopped feeding her.

Luo Xing watched him lower his head quietly, saying nothing.

She felt somewhat uneasy.

“Thank you,” Luo Xing said politely after finishing the last bite.

Gu Shiyan knew that Luo Xing agreeing to let him deliver breakfast was giving him a chance.

But beyond what he had learned online, he truly didn’t know how to talk to Luo Xing.

He feared saying something that would upset her, so he restrained himself from speaking as he normally would.

Yet Luo Xing didn’t seem to like the charming way people online said one should talk.

Gu Shiyan had tidied up the trash and was about to leave, but seeing the leftover food on the table, he took the initiative to grab a tissue and clean the crumbs before leaving. “If there’s anything, just call me.”

Luo Xing curled her lips. “Aren’t you always on silent mode? What use would calling do?”

Gu Shiyan unlocked his phone and showed her. “Not anymore.”

On the screen, the silent mode was turned off.

Luo Xing looked at him in surprise.

“Believe it?”

Gu Shiyan’s tone returned to the calm, understated way he spoke before.

No longer awkward or overly sentimental.

Luo Xing felt a bit more at ease.

“Oh,” she said, pointing at the door. “Remember to close it when you leave.”

“I’m not you,” Gu Shiyan blurted out unintentionally, revealing his instinctive thought.

“I’m going now,” he said quickly, almost running out.

Luo Xing looked at the table he had just wiped clean.

The pristine tissue was thrown into the trash bin.

Truly a rich young master—using a tissue to wipe the table.

“By the way, you...” The door was still cracked open, but Gu Shiyan peeked his head back inside, looking at Luo Xing.

She looked at him. “What?”

He was silent for a moment. “How are you feeling?”

Luo Xing replied calmly, “Go away.”

His head withdrew from the gap, and the door closed.

No longer in her sight.

Luo Xing took a sip of plain water.

Her mind replayed Gu Shiyan’s behavior throughout the morning.

It was truly unusual.

She shook her head and opened her phone. On her social feed was a photo her parents had posted together.

She tapped “Like.”

Her phone rang—it was Luo Zhou calling.

“Hello, brother?” Luo Xing’s voice was somewhat heavy. She hadn’t yet confronted him about his sneaking into the group chat pretending to be an Excelsior University student to steal information, but he had already called her directly.

“Grandma?” Luo Zhou asked anxiously.

Luo Xing was taken aback. “Grandma is...”

“I’ve called several times, but she hasn’t answered,” he said, his voice filled with worry.

Luo Xing picked up her phone and was about to leave. “She’s been busy with Grandpa Gu’s matters. I was going to leave with her, but she said she wanted to stay with Grandpa Gu a little longer...”
