Volume One, Chapter 142: Senior Martial Uncle Wang Changqian
She squatted down in front of everyone and casually removed the flight talisman from her ankle.
Lu Chen looked at her, his face unreadable and expression calm. With a stern face and a hint of displeasure in his voice, he said, “Miss Qin, arriving uninvited—is this some kind of rule your sect follows?”
Qin Yu smiled gently, revealing her neat white teeth. She shrugged innocently and pointed at the drone hovering overhead. “Old Master Lu, it’s not that I came uninvited. Someone actually asked me to come.”
The moment Lu Chen spotted the drone, the coldness on his face shifted slightly.
A surge of anger crept up from his neck, and he barked sharply, “This is private property of the Lu family. Who gave you permission to livestream? Shut it down immediately!”
There was an inherent military aura about Lu Chen, an oppressive presence even in silence. Now that he was angry, the fear radiating from his very bones made people tremble involuntarily.
Qin Yu did not argue with him on this point.
Though she was livestreaming, she respected others’ privacy.
She flicked a talisman with her fingertips, sending it flying to temporarily suspend the livestream.
The screen went black, plunging the viewers into a brief panic.
“Is the master in danger? Old Master Lu looked so terrifying just now! I’m really worried about the master.”
“I thought Old Master Lu was a good person! Never expected he’s such a villain! Boohoo.”
“That outburst was scary beyond belief. Old Master Lu looked more frightening than a ghost. I’m so scared I feel like I’m about to meet my great-grandmother…”
“I’m worried about my wife’s safety. Is there anyone willing to team up and check out Jingfang Mountain? I can’t go alone.”
“I advise against it. The master said some things are better left alone. Getting involved might bring unnecessary karmic consequences.”
After handling this, Qin Yu began to study the few people present at the scene.
---
Lu Jinyuan was stuffed into a huge cauldron, beneath which a small fire burned steadily. From her angle, she couldn’t see what was inside, but steam continuously billowed out.
Lu Jinyuan lay unconscious, his face flushed red as if he had been in a steam bath.
Surrounding him was an overwhelming aura of malevolence, dense and black, concentrated chiefly above his head.
Qin Yu sneered coldly. When a person is in a steam bath, their skin pores and airways open wide.
This was the perfect opportunity to infuse the malevolent energy.
She had wondered why Lu Jinyuan’s internal dark energy had surged dramatically after just a few days of absence. Now the truth was clear.
Qin Yu shifted her gaze to a white-bearded old man kneeling nearby with a look of regret. She asked, puzzled, “I see your cultivation is not shallow. Why would you commit such actions that go against the natural order?”
The old man, addressed by name, shifted his gaze from his golden adornments and spoke with no courtesy toward Qin Yu, “Heh! I, Wang, have lived this life never having met anyone daring enough to discuss the Way with me! You little brat aren’t afraid at all!”
“The Way has no end, and those who cultivate it do not measure its depth by age. This is the first lesson my master taught me on the day I entered the sect. Sir, didn’t your master teach you this truth?”
Qin Yu smiled as she answered but kept observing her surroundings carefully.
She saw Lu Chen quietly retreating, speaking with the bodyguards beside him. She tried to eavesdrop with her spiritual power, but a sudden wave of spiritual energy pressed against her.
“You little brat, focus on your fight with me, alright?”
Qin Yu’s heart tightened. Mu Ling had been sent out, but with so much malevolent energy present, she could not exert much influence.
Putting aside the situation with Lu Chen for now, Qin Yu concentrated on the old man.
He was far more difficult to contend with than she had anticipated. Furthermore, she discovered his magic bore resemblance to her own, so some of her techniques were effortlessly dispelled by him.
---
The two exchanged blows repeatedly. In the end, Qin Yu was reduced to pure defense, with no chance to counterattack.
The old man laughed triumphantly, “Ha! Fifty years in seclusion and he only taught you? Lin Changxiu, what a prodigy you’ve raised!”
Hearing the familiar name, Qin Yu regained some spirit. “You know my master?”
“I know him well. By seniority, you should even call me senior uncle!”
Qin Yu narrowly dodged another strike from Wang Changqian, her voice cold, “My master never mentioned you. I suppose he doesn’t acknowledge you as a senior brother. If so, you are unworthy of that title from me!”
Wang Changqian laughed heartily, his gray-streaked beard shaking with his mirth. “No wonder you’re Lin Changxiu’s disciple—even the temper is identical! Lin is a promising seedling, but you’ve ruined him! Today, I’ll clear the way for you on his behalf!”
Qin Yu snorted coldly, the killing intent in her aura rising bit by bit. “Who will clear the way remains to be seen!”
Seeing her beaten down with no ability to fight back yet still defiant, Wang Changqian sneered even more, “I was going to spare your life out of respect for our connection. But it seems that’s no longer necessary!”
Qin Yu did not respond. She closed her eyes and formed a seal with her hands before her.
Perhaps confident in his own strength, or wanting to toy with Qin Yu, Wang Changqian did not stop her from chanting the incantation. Instead, he stood quietly watching her performance.
Until he saw that familiar radiance!
His mouth gaped open in shock, unable to close it for a long moment.
Indeed! It really was Lin Changxiu all along!
Then came the fury and frustration of being deceived!
