Volume 1, Chapter 34: Your Highness, Where Is Your Integrity?
What was he trying to do?
In the dead of night, alone in a room with a man, and with the rustle of clothes sounding from behind her—Mu Wanwan’s heart was in turmoil. Her pulse raced, and when a sudden, cold sensation touched the skin of her back, she was startled out of her wits.
"Ah! What are you doing?" she cried, spinning around, her face filled with alarm.
The pain made her abandon any thought of washing her face; she simply kicked off her shoes, turned off the lights, and went to bed.
Mu Fenghua and the others hesitated for a moment. The eldest mistress signaled for Vasa and the other to enter first, and only then did they follow into the palace.
You Wanqing quickly waved her hands, flustered, suddenly realizing how much jealousy had leaked into her previous remark.
He forced himself not to look where he shouldn't, grabbed both sides of her bathrobe to pull them together, and then, without so much as a glance at Shu Man, tied the sash.
The night was deep now. Yu Wan was driving, and there were few other vehicles on the road. The hospital was already in a remote area, which lent the surroundings an inexplicable sense of desolation.
Several men in sunglasses appeared behind him, waiting for him to speak. The air pressure was at its lowest.
Qiao Hongyuan froze, his face darkening. Just as he was about to speak, he saw the old matriarch and several other ladies hurrying over from the other side of the bridgehead.
The setting sun slanted low, and the busy, chaotic day finally drew to a close under the crimson twilight. Qiao Nianxi leaned against Ye Xuanling, drifting back in the hypnotic, swaying rhythm of the carriage.
With a sigh, You Wanqing pouted, blowing at the hair on her forehead. Watching Shang Chengzhan’s arduous gait, she took Diudiu’s hand and followed, linking her arm through Shang Chengzhan’s as she waited with him for the traffic light.
Leng Yanan nodded with a smile; perhaps meeting Qi Mo was the fulfillment of her life. With her hands on Qi Mo’s shoulders, while everyone chanted for a kiss, she simply whispered a single sentence to him.
Chengmu watched the dialogue between the master and apprentice in silence. He had calmed down, but his gaze grew unfocused as he fell into deep thought.
On the other side of the hole in the wall, a pair of eyes as sharp as an eagle’s took in every movement at the corner of the door, while they remained completely oblivious.
Hearing Chu Qiu’s words, Xu Yang cursed him silently for being stubborn. But since he had already involved himself in this matter, he decided to see it through. Changing the subject, Xu Yang asked, "Mr. Chu Qiu, were you in the military?" he asked, pointing to the photograph.
Su Ling held a video recorder, surveying the metallic space around her. She snapped photos from time to time, capturing every peculiar piece of metal or structure as a keepsake.
"Alright, alright! Look at you, a 'great hero' blushing like this. I’m going to take a shower; you should get some sleep too. If you miss her, just give her a call—otherwise, if you ever need the room, your brother here will be happy to make space for you!" Xu Yang chuckled lewdly.
No matter how many Sages there were, they could not harm the Dao Wheel. This was common knowledge; after all, with the terrifying, near-immortal capabilities of the Nirvana Realm, what did the number of Sages matter?
Traveling by plane made it easy for people to track his movements through flight information. Yang Fan didn’t want to be targeted by the Black May organization before even reaching Singapore; by contrast, taking a ship was much safer.
A bloodthirsty red light flickered in Mo Ning’s eyes. She gripped the edge of the bed tightly, her gaze filled with resentment, agony, and fury. Why did she have to suffer the torment of this virus? If she hadn't been infected, she would surely be with Sun Yan, and he wouldn't despise her.
Fortunately, the situation had not yet spiraled out of control. Although it was chaotic, it was still within his grasp. He had to admit, Old Tong was currently grinding his teeth in hatred for Xu Yang, yet he was utterly helpless.
"Why wait for a call? I'm coming over to wait with you." Tan Yaohua hung up the phone immediately, hopped on his bicycle, and headed straight for Nelson’s villa.
