Chapter 7: Rich Lady, Feed Me, I'm Starving~
The next day arrived quickly.
Early in the morning, Chen Fan sent the contract that Siyue had worked overtime to prepare the previous night to a lawyer friend, asking him to check for any issues. After confirming everything was in order, he sent an "OK" back to Siyue, telling her to proceed with the coordination with the Xinghai team.
After washing up, he headed downstairs, hailed a taxi, and set off for Xinxin Plaza.
The driver was a chatterbox. Upon hearing that Chen Fan was heading to Xinxin Plaza, he immediately launched into a story. "You know? Rumor has it that the richest man in Su City built this plaza just to make shopping convenient for his daughter. Who would have thought it would accidentally become a hit and turn into a landmark of the city?"
"Is it really that ridiculous?"
"You better believe it. The name 'Xinxin Plaza' is actually the nickname of that rich man's daughter. The world of the wealthy is something you and I can't even imagine."
"I don't think it's entirely unimaginable."
The driver chuckled. "Young man, you can fool me, but don't fool yourself."
"Heh." Chen Fan just smiled and didn't respond.
"But the plaza doesn't open until nine in the morning. It's only six-thirty now. Aren't you going a bit too early?"
Chen Fan's smile froze on his face. "Ah?"
Half an hour later, Chen Fan arrived at Xinxin Plaza, located in the heart of the city. Just as the driver had said, the massive plaza was completely empty of customers. At this hour, the only people here were workers pressed by the demands of life—and, of course, Chen Fan, the guy whose brain had been turned to mush by a woman.
Fortunately, our comrade KFC was open 24 hours, or Chen Fan wouldn't have known where to kill time. He entered the store, found a seat, sent a "Good morning" to Peng Jiaxin, and scanned the QR code to order. Looking at the dazzling array of breakfast options on his phone, Chen Fan suddenly experienced a flare-up of decision paralysis. After hesitating for a long time, he finally just ordered a recommended set meal.
"Good morning, have you eaten?" Peng Jiaxin replied with a voice message.
Chen Fan sent a screenshot of the meal he had ordered, followed by a meme: *Rich lady, food, hungry.jpg.*
"KFC? I want some too~ Where are you?"
"Xinxin Plaza."
Hm?
Peng Jiaxin, who had just woken up, thought she had overslept and immediately became alert. She quickly checked the time—it was just past seven.
"Why did you go there so early?"
"I wanted KFC, so I came over to try the breakfast here." Chen Fan was too embarrassed to admit that he had been so excited that he’d left the house without even checking the time.
"You've made me crave it, too. Buy me a set as well."
After saying that, Peng Jiaxin called out to the auntie downstairs, "Auntie Xu, don't worry about breakfast. I'm going out to eat."
Five minutes later, Peng Jiaxin, having freshened up and applied light makeup, stepped out in casual clothes. Her home was right across from Xinxin Plaza; she just had to cross a crosswalk to get there.
Chen Fan replied "Okay" and ordered one of every set meal. As it turned out, Peng Jiaxin arrived before the food did.
"So fast?"
"I live right across the street."
In public, Peng Jiaxin appeared somewhat cold, but her smile remained warm when facing Chen Fan.
"I see." Chen Fan glanced at the high-end residential complex across the street. If he remembered correctly, the apartments there were over 20,000 per square meter. *Hiss... so she really is a wealthy lady.*
"Do you always get up this early?"
"Yes, I have a habit of morning jogs, and I consistently keep up with my exercise."
"Oh?" A pleasant surprise?
Peng Jiaxin's eyes lit up, and she looked at Chen Fan's stomach. "So, do you have abs?"
"Yes."
Having died once, Chen Fan deeply understood the importance of physical health. His original body had a solid foundation, and with his consistent workouts, his physique was, at the very least, lean when dressed and muscular when bare.
Peng Jiaxin sat down beside Chen Fan. "Can I touch them?"
She frequently heard her secretarial team discussing how "great a handsome guy's abs feel." Zhou Xuejing would often whisper to her about how wonderful younger, sweet guys could be. She hadn't paid much attention to such talk before, but now, she had an experimental subject!
It’s her own husband; touching him shouldn't be an issue, right?
"Sure." Chen Fan moved to lift his shirt, but Peng Jiaxin pulled his hand down, her face turning bright red as she glanced around.
"What are you doing?"
"Didn't you say you wanted to touch?" Chen Fan's voice held a hint of amusement. *Not feeling shy until the moment of truth, are we?*
He leaned in close to her ear. "Or are you saying you don't want others to see?"
Seeing through him, Peng Jiaxin glared at Chen Fan fiercely. To others, the glare might have been intimidating, but to Chen Fan, it only looked more beautiful.
"I'll deal with you when we get home."
Just then, the broadcast called Chen Fan’s order number. He smiled and stood up. "Alright, I'll be at your disposal when we get back."
Peng Jiaxin looked away, not daring to meet his gaze.
***
Soon, Chen Fan returned with two large trays of breakfast, featuring every variety available.
"Why did you buy so much? Isn't that wasteful?"
"Don't worry, I can finish this little bit all by myself."
Anyone who has had a KFC breakfast knows it's "exquisite"—it looks like a lot, but you finish it in a few bites. Peng Jiaxin looked at the diverse spread; she wanted to try everything but couldn't eat that much.
"You can have a taste of each, and I'll take care of the rest."
"Okay~"
Peng Jiaxin was very happy. She wasn't a typical "rich second generation." When she was born, her parents were deeply in love, but it was also a time when they were struggling financially. For a long time during her childhood, their family of three lived in a place even smaller than the room Chen Fan rented.
Although they were poor, her parents were still madly in love, and that love had never faded to this day. Her parents' outlook on love had undoubtedly raised the bar for her requirements in a boyfriend. It might sound ridiculous, but Peng Jiaxin was indeed looking for genuine love in this era of fast-paced relationships. She longed to meet a man who wouldn't mind eating her leftovers—a man who could maintain such devotion for decades.
Peng Jiaxin wasn't sure if Chen Fan would be that kind of man, but his current words and actions aligned perfectly with her fantasies of a "husband." Even when they were at his place yesterday—such a private setting, and despite their legal status—he hadn't done anything inappropriate.
Peng Jiaxin could see Chen Fan’s respect for her in every detail, which was why she was willing to accommodate him.
They both enjoyed the meal immensely.
"By the way, I asked Zijin about the matter. If there are no issues, he will talk to your company's head about the adaptation today."
"Thank you, Chen Fan."
"It's just a small favor, don't mention it."
"And about my parents—they said it's fine, too."
"Alright, I'll handle the arrangements for the venue then."
Chen Fan nodded, popped the last piece of panini into his mouth, and checked the time. Eight o'clock. He had tried to eat as slowly as possible, but it looked like they still had some time to kill.
"The mall doesn't open until nine. Where should we spend the next hour?"
Having finished her childhood treat, Peng Jiaxin rubbed her stomach, satisfied.
"Why wait for it to open? Can't we just go in?"
"Ah? But if they aren't open, we can't get in, can we?"
"Just follow me."
Peng Jiaxin walked confidently toward the employee entrance. The security guard standing there was a burly man, and fearing he might do something to her, Chen Fan quickly picked up his pace to catch up.
Then, he simply followed Peng Jiaxin, walking into the mall without a single obstacle. Not only that, but the security guard, seeing Peng Jiaxin approach, greeted her respectfully.
"Good morning, Miss."
A question mark slowly appeared over Chen Fan’s head.
The "Xin" in Xinxin Plaza... it couldn't be the "Xin" from Peng Jiaxin, could it?
