Chapter 19: Mom, the city is too chaotic—I want to go home.

Perhaps it was the atmosphere or the effects of too much wine, but Wan Yongwang kept thinking about making a move on Guo Yue’er in front of so many people. Feeling uncomfortable, Guo Yue’er excused herself to go to the restroom.
Unexpectedly, she ran into Chen Fan outside.
A spark of joy flashed in Guo Yue’er’s eyes.
Sure enough, Lü Chunjiao was right—this morning’s events were all orchestrated by Chen Fan himself, all to win her heart back.
Otherwise, how else to explain Chen Fan’s act of “blocking” her at the door?
With that thought, Guo Yue’er bit her lip tightly.
There was no denying it—Chen Fan had succeeded, she truly realized there was a place for him in her heart.
“Chen Fan, I can give you a chance to pursue me, but you have to let me handle things here first.”
“?”
Big sis, are you talking to me?
“Bro, who’s talking to you?”
Hearing that familiar voice, Chen Mengting instinctively furrowed her brows.
Chen Fan’s expression wasn’t much better.
“I just ran into some bad luck. I’ll deal with it first, no more talking.”
“Okay.”
After hanging up, Chen Mengting chuckled softly, then opened the group chat named “A Loving Family” and clicked on an avatar.
Excluding a few avatars of those chatting in the group, Chen Mengting quickly found Peng Jiaxin’s WeChat.
She clicked to add and left a note: “Sis-in-law, my brother is chatting with Guo Yue’er again.”
“Bro, don’t blame me. I was too shy to add sis-in-law first.”
Chen Fan: Thanks!
The request was accepted immediately, and a call came through.
A gentle, refined voice came from the phone.
“Mengting, right? Tell sis-in-law what happened.”
In the private room, Peng Jiaxin signaled Zhou Xuejing to stop singing for a moment; she had something to say.
Sensing the juicy gossip, Zhou Xuejing immediately stopped and leaned close to Peng Jiaxin, listening intently.
“Okay, sis-in-law.”
Chen Mengting’s excited voice came through.
Ah, her sis-in-law’s voice is so lovely—how could that dead weight Guo Yue’er compare?
And that line, “giving you a chance to pursue~.”
I’m jealous!
“My brother seems to be entangled with Guo Yue’er.”
“Guo Yue’er?”
Zhou Xuejing looked at Peng Jiaxin; it was clear her best friend knew about this woman, her expression unchanged.
Chen Fan also has bad luck in love?
Zhou Xuejing grew more curious.
“Thanks for telling me.”
“Ding.”
“This is the ‘correction fee’ for calling me sis-in-law. It’s a bit small, keep it for now. If there’s a chance, I’ll top it up later.”
“Thanks, sis-in-law~”
Chen Mengting saw the red envelope and smiled brightly as she opened it. Sure enough, this sis-in-law was very... one, ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand... gasp! Chen Mengting’s breath quickened.
A correction fee of ten thousand?!

“Sis-in-law, if my brother dares to betray you, I will definitely stand for righteousness and cut ties!”
Peng Jiaxin chuckled softly.
“All right, then I’m counting on you.”
After chatting briefly with her sister-in-law, Peng Jiaxin was urged by her to hurry up and catch the cheater, her tone even more anxious than hers.
After hanging up, Peng Jiaxin smiled wryly.
Zhou Xuejing asked curiously,
“Is that Chen Fan’s sister?”
“Yeah, his biological sister.”
“......”
Indeed, biological—prepared to disown him for righteousness’ sake.
“So what’s the story with Guo Yue’er?”
“Chen Fan’s once unattainable first love—he chased her for six or seven years but never succeeded.”
Zhou Xuejing sobered up immediately upon hearing this, glaring at Peng Jiaxin.
“You put up with that?”
Peng Jiaxin pouted.
“Not really. If he doesn’t come back within ten minutes, I’ll give up on him.”
“Why do I feel like someone’s mumbling about me?”
Just as she finished speaking, Chen Fan pushed open the door. Outside stood Guo Yue’er, looking utterly incredulous.
“Good of you to show some sense.”
Zhou Xuejing shot Chen Fan a sharp look.
Chen Fan felt a bit baffled.
“What’s wrong with me?”
“Your sister already told us—you ran into that first love again?”
Chen Fan: “......”
Chen Mengting!!!
Suddenly, Chen Mengting sneezed. She roughly knew who was mumbling about her— but this was ten thousand [yuan]!
She couldn’t possibly give up the money just for her brother, right?
“Hehe~”
Chen Mengting had already made up her mind: tomorrow, she would wave her hand and pay for all their outings!
Just thinking about it made her happy!
...
Guo Yue’er returned to the private room, looking dazed. Wan Yongwang withdrew his hand from the hostess’s shoulder with a guilty expression. Seeing that Guo Yue’er seemed not to notice, he breathed a sigh of relief.
He gave Lü Chunjiao a meaningful look.
Lü Chunjiao understood and helped Guo Yue’er sit at an angle that blocked her view of Wan Yongwang.
“My dear, what’s wrong?”
“Chunjiao, I think I’ve made a mistake.”
“What mistake?”
Remembering the cruel words Chen Fan had just said outside, tears began to stream uncontrollably.
Did she not see what Wan Yongwang was doing? She was just too tired to care.
If he dared to act like that in front of her, what more could he be doing behind her back?
Guo Yue’er was truly exhausted and wanted to leave, but he no longer wanted her.

“Chen Fan really doesn’t want me anymore.”
“???”
Why bring up that guy again? Looks like this issue won’t be resolved today.
Wait...
“You ran into Chen Fan?”
Guo Yue’er nodded.
Lü Chunjiao was at a loss for words. Neither of these two were good people: one’s body was restless but professed deep love; the other seemed obedient but had thoughts elsewhere.
Lü Chunjiao suddenly didn’t want to get involved in their messy affairs anymore.
Mom, the city is too chaotic; I want to go home.
...
“You came back just in time. Otherwise, we might not even have had dinner in a couple of days.”
Peng Jiaxin said nothing, so Zhou Xuejing spoke for her.
Chen Fan sat beside Peng Jiaxin.
“This was just a coincidence; I never expected to run into her here.”
“I heard from your sister that she’s still waiting for you to confess.”
Chen Fan rolled his eyes.
“How pathetic am I? I have such a good wife, yet I’m still thinking about a washed-up old flame?”
Zhou Xuejing glanced at Peng Jiaxin; the corner of their CEO’s mouth simply wouldn’t stay down.
So easy to coax.
“Oh~ Didn’t expect your thoughts to be so enlightened.”
“Of course.”
“Since that’s the case, how about you sing a song for us, Xin Xin?”
Zhou Xuejing handed the microphone to Chen Fan, signaling him to sing a few lines.
“What should I sing? I’ll pick for you.”
“Hm... something new. Do you have a guitar?”
The two women looked at Chen Fan in unison.
“What do you mean? You’re going to write a song for Xin Xin?”
“You can write songs?”
Their questions overlapped, and Chen Fan smiled and nodded.
“A little, a little.”
Peng Jiaxin grew interested and called a waiter to bring in a guitar.
“Peng Jiaxin, isn’t your husband a novelist?”
While Chen Fan adjusted the guitar, Zhou Xuejing whispered to Peng Jiaxin.
“Yes, a novelist. I just found out he can play guitar, too.”
“What about writing songs?”
Peng Jiaxin shook her head.
Zhou Xuejing twitched at the corner of her mouth.
What does that mean?
Not going to fake it, right?
