Lu Xing continued reading Annie’s self-introduction. She stated that she was the daughter of the Duke of Swindon and Lady Bridget; the former being the Grand Duke of the Northern Territories, and the latter the daughter of the governor of the southern province of the Moria Empire.

Lu Xing had met Annie’s mother before and had heard of the Northern Duke from the maids, but he never delved into details. He didn’t even dare to ask the name of the maid with emerald eyes beside him, fearing it might raise suspicion.

Reading further, Annie described her confusion since arriving on Earth—for example, whether the deities here were the Jade Emperor and Jesus, whether believing in the Goddess of Holy Light would offend anyone, whether computers and phones contained magic, and how to ride an electric bike.

“I had a joyful day today!”

Seeing this, Lu Xing felt envious!

His social circle was simple; he had no personal maids, didn’t have to attend classes during the National Day holiday, and even when he did, they weren’t one-on-one sessions—he just sat in the classroom.

Annie, having crossed over into his body, had no worries about her identity being exposed!

At the end, Annie asked:

“Excuse me, Mr. Lu Xing, did you use magic to summon me to Earth? But I couldn’t feel any magic or divine power emanating from you.

I don’t know the reason. If Mr. Lu Xing knows, please do tell me.”

Lu Xing had already written the answer on the note he left for her; she would see it when she returned.

After finishing reading, Lu Xing remained curious. How did Annie, a duke’s daughter from a magical world, spend her day in a magicless Earth?

Soon after, his roommate Qi Wenyu returned from a late-night snack outing. Before Lu Xing could ask, Qi Wenyu looked at him as if he had seen a ghost, scrutinizing him up and down.

“What’s... wrong?”

Lu Xing suddenly lost his curiosity, feeling a tingling in his scalp. Could it be the two thousand yuan again?

“Brother Liu!” Qi Wenyu patted his shoulder, wearing a pitying expression. “Maybe we should see a doctor. We can’t keep delaying it. If money’s tight, we’ll find a way in the dormitory!”

“...”

Lu Xing took a deep breath and said, “Don’t worry. This illness of mine is occasional, sporadic... It’s fine... So, what happened today?”

The last question was the key.

Qi Wenyu suddenly laughed: “Brother Liu, you’re a master of hidden talents! You’d definitely be popular in Rong City!”

“? Why would I go there?”

After Lu Xing’s inquiry, Qi Wenyu finally revealed roughly what happened today—or rather, what Annie did.

That morning, after an all-nighter, Qi Wenyu was about to sleep when he heard “Lu Xing” mumbling the name “Catherine” in a daze. Qi Wenyu thought he was sleep-talking and paid no attention.

But “Lu Xing” kept calling out several names, muttering strange phrases, then tossed and turned in bed before finally poking his head out to ask Qi Wenyu how to get out of bed.

After getting up, “Lu Xing” appeared half-asleep, repeatedly touching his chest as if in disbelief, and asked Qi Wenyu if there was a mirror.

“Brother Liu, turns out your capital is that powerful!”

Qi Wenyu suppressed his laughter and gave him a thumbs-up.

Lu Xing was both amused and exasperated. For a young male university student, showing vigor in the morning was normal, wasn’t it?

But Annie didn’t know that!

She got out of bed, wandered half-asleep to the balcony, then stood at the sink outside the bathroom, holding her face in disbelief at her reflection.

Qi Wenyu laughed: “Brother Liu, you even twisted your waist to check your figure, and at the end—hahaha—you pulled down your shorts to admire your magnificent physique, eyes wide in disbelief. Brother Liu, did you take some medicine that made you grow overnight?”

“Get lost. I’m just gifted.”

Lu Xing rubbed his temples. No, he’d better add a note on the paper forbidding her from looking at his ‘bull’—otherwise, he’d be at a severe disadvantage!

Fortunately, from Qi Wenyu’s description, Lu Xing knew that Annie finally noticed something was off. After a couple of glances, she shyly hid in the bathroom and stayed there for a long time before coming out.

After finally dressing, Annie asked Qi Wenyu many questions, including but not limited to:

“Where is this place? Earth? Haicheng? Is there no magic? Do you know the Moria Empire?”

“Me? My name is Annie. I don’t know why I’ve changed like this.”

“My name is Lu Xing? Fine, I’ll temporarily use Lu Xing. Who is the emperor here?”

“No emperor? No duke either?”

“How much tax revenue does this place collect annually? How many knights, magicians, and churches are there? How many suits of armor are produced in a year?”

“A billion suits of armor?! You’re lying, right? No? Really? Earth is amazing! I want to learn science too!”

“My name is Annie, Annie Wyz Swindon. Do you know the Duke of Swindon? He is the Grand Duke of the Northern Territories and appoints the governors of the three northern provinces!”

“What is the Northern Territories? Hmm, the Northern Territories are in the north of the empire. Most residents worship the Snow Mountain God and the God of War... Lady Wyz, my great-great-great-grandmother, slew the fallen angel and ice dragon Gamma of the Snow Mountain God... Her legendary story is very long! I’ll tell you when I have time.”

“There are winged angels, but dragons can also be angels. Aren’t angels messengers sent down from the divine realm? What do angels look like on Earth?”

“Ah, phones are truly amazing, even better than teleportation magic circles! Can I use one too?”

“...”

“You’ve completely changed!”

Qi Wenyu said, adding, “You’re a lively girl with so many questions I can’t answer. I couldn’t handle it and went to bed. When I woke up, you were already out of the dorm, strolling around campus. I was worried you’d have an episode and quickly called to find you, but I saw you chatting warmly with several freshmen girls by the playground. They said you’re their male best friend and even planned to go shopping for dresses and accessories with you!”

“A male best friend? And buy dresses?!”

Lu Xing covered his forehead. This was it—he couldn’t hide his split personality any longer!

“Brother Liu, I found a hospital online. They’re offering an 85% discount on psychiatric treatment. Take a look...” Qi Wenyu said.

Lu Xing took a deep breath. “What if I told you I’m not schizophrenic but have crossed over into a magical world, becoming the duke’s daughter Annie, and Annie became me? Would you believe it?”

Qi Wenyu thought for a moment, then tentatively asked, “Or should we try a hospital without a discount?”

“Heh!” Lu Xing raised a hand to refuse and sat back at his desk, adding two more notes on the paper.

One forbade her from looking at his ‘bull’; the other advised her to stay on campus and avoid going out before she fully understood this world.

No crossing red lights and getting hit, or being tricked by traffickers to be sold into the mountains... Oh, wait, Annie was occupying his body, not a young girl’s appearance.

Qi Wenyu watched from behind. Lu Xing didn’t hide anything; since he didn’t know who might cross over next, it was better to just play the part of a schizoid.

As long as he followed the rules and completed his studies, the school wouldn’t expel him for acting mentally ill.

He just had to make sure he was himself during exams.

That night.

As he lay back down to sleep, Lu Xing closed his eyes and recalled the images of several women from the “Life Experience Game” advertisement.

The blonde girl appeared—Annie.

But he had little memory of the others. One had a background full of overlapping shadows, like ghostly figures, cold and terrifying.

Another was dressed like a magical girl, the shortest in height; lastly, one wore a business secretary outfit, less anime-like.

He couldn’t remember the rest, hoping there wouldn’t be a new crossover every day—too many for him to handle!

Closing his eyes, half-drowsy, Lu Xing fell asleep.

A sudden chill swept over him.
