Chapter 48: Compatriot, Wake Up and Save Humanity
Lu Xing returned to Earth. Seeing the unfamiliar hotel environment, he was stunned for a moment before remembering that he had moved out to live on his own.
Having lived alone in the freezing wilderness for ten days, returning to the modern world gave him a surreal feeling, almost as if he had crossed into another lifetime.
He even managed to recapture a trace of the fairy’s state of mind!
Checking the date first: October 9th, 6:00 PM. Only a single daytime had passed.
Looking around the room, he found a note left by the fairy on the desk. As usual, it contained only a single sentence:
*Your instructions have been engraved upon my heart.*
Surprisingly, Lu Xing had already grown accustomed to her way of speaking!
Oddly enough, the elders in the mirror did not speak with such archaic phrasing, yet she herself used such peculiar expressions. He truly wondered who had taught her.
"Hmm?"
Lu Xing noticed to his surprise that several words on the list of precautions he had left behind had been circled. They were:
*Hotel, waiter, traffic light, attending class, classmate.*
"Key phrases she has engraved in her heart?"
Lu Xing quickly formed a guess and pictured a series of actions the fairy must have taken after arriving on Earth:
Upon arriving at the hotel, she first read the precautions Lu Xing gave her, changed her clothes, and went out. Speaking in an ancient-style tone, she asked the waiter where breakfast was served. After eating, she went downstairs, watched the traffic lights to cross the street, and smoothly arrived at school for her classes.
Imagining the scene of the fairy conversing with a waiter or other classmates, Lu Xing could not help but laugh.
Yet, he immediately remembered that the fairy was using his body, meaning to others he would look as though he were suffering from a mental breakdown...
The smile vanished instantly!
"Did I manage to contact you today?"
Following his usual routine, Lu Xing sent a text message to Xiao Yu. While waiting for a reply, he went downstairs to eat dinner. Halfway through the meal, Xiao Yu’s message arrived:
"Still nothing. Has that fairy arrived?"
"Yes. She's a bit different from before, which is why I asked."
"How is she different?"
"Her mortal heart has stirred."
"Ah!?"
Xiao Yu was very surprised. After listening to Lu Xing's explanation, she laughed: "As expected of an untainted fairy. I'm getting more and more curious. What is she like in the Xianxia world?"
After chatting for a while, Xiao Yu told Lu Xing what she had done today, so that he wouldn't be completely clueless after the next exchange.
Lu Xing also briefly described what he had been doing on the other side. After ending the chat, he went to ask his classmates in the dormitory group chat what "he" had done today.
He finally learned that apart from being silent and ignoring people, the fairy's other behaviors had been completely normal.
Lu Xing decided to stop worrying about things like mental illness; as long as he didn't get flattened by a truck, everything else was a minor detail!
...
The next day, upon opening his eyes again, Lu Xing found that the room had been transformed into minimalist decor. The ceiling was a sheet of white walls, the windows lacked curtains, and the scenery outside was not even visible—the windows were purely decorative.
"Welcome back to wakefulness, compatriot."
The electronic voice of the little girl echoed in Lu Xing's mind, helping him gradually clear his head.
Yet, Lu Xing did not want to get up just yet. Having finally managed to transition from sleeping in the freezing snow to sleeping on a giant hotel bed, he had only enjoyed it for a single night before being tossed back into the virtual world.
And a virtual world with insufficient computing power at that!
"Compatriot, please get up. You have two minutes remaining to dress. As a member of the Human Resistance, you have yet to report back to your unit!"
The smart hair clip did not indulge him at all. The moment it saw its compatriot lingering in bed, it immediately issued a warning.
Unfortunately, Lu Xing was a programmer, blessed with the innate talent of ignoring warnings.
He waved his hand to signal the hair clip to be quiet, and asked curiously:
"I've been wondering about something. Last time, the moment I woke up, you knew I wasn't your master. It's the same this time. Why? Are the brainwaves different?"
"No, I judge by gender."
"Ah?"
Lu Xing was somewhat puzzled. Lowering his head slightly and lifting his upper body, he glanced down into Jiang Xuannv's small, white undergarments.
The young
